Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YEG.2ACIB/127.133.143.144.1.1 Message Board Post: Sara, Anton Brinker was my grandfather's (John Brinker) brother. I have been researching my family history for about six months now and found a little info that you don't have. Nicholas married Mary....this you have, but after Mary died do you have info on what happened to your grandfather? My grandfather was sent to live with his aunt Katherine (Brinker) Flint. I have assumed that since Anton was 17 he stayed at home on the farm with his dad, brothers and possibly sister Lizzie. Am I right? I have found through census records that Nicholas' father's name was Lucas/Lukas Brinker. I have yet to find a wife name, but I do believe that Lucas' full name was John Lucas Brinker, son of Herman Henry Brinker 16 Nov 1780-Hanover,Germany and Helena Ann Walters 6 Dec 1786-Hanover, Germany. I found this info mostly through Ancestry.com. *I had done a 1880 census search for Brinkers and found Lucas Brinker living with Herman Flint (Head of Household), and Lucas' relation was father in law. Herman Flint married Katharine Brinker. It also showed that Lucas was a widower. I assume that they all arrived in the U.S. in 1860 and that possibly Lucas' wife either died on the ship ride over or died in Hanover/Prussia during the fight for independence from Poland. That's where I'm unsure. I truly believe that Lucas IS John Lucas, because he had other siblings with the first name John and all different middle names, so it's totally possible that they just called him by his middle name. Anyway, I recently sent off for a death certificate for Nicholas with hopes that his parents names would be listed....they weren't, but I did find that he died of chronic kidney desease. I also have what is his correct date of birth. His death certificate says April 17, 1856 but I know his grave stone said something different. I'll find the pic I took and let you know. That's all for now....hope to hear a little about you. Rebecca Brinker, daughter of John H. Brinker Jr..
