Brimmer Martin L. Brimmer of No. 356 Schenk street was born at Berlin, N. Y., on June 21, 1846, and came to North Tonawanda from Lockport eight years ago. He enlisted on March 10, 1862 in Company G, 92nd New York Volunteers, at Berlin and saw much service. Mr. Brimmer was wounded in the battle of Gettysburg in June 1864, but returned to his company later. He was in the battles of Gettysburg, Baltimore Heights and Barryville. Bris Brimmer was born January 2, 1881. Lucy Brimmer (formerly Collins) was born around 1897 and died around 1926. According to Bris' WWI registration card, he lived in Dodge County, Eastman Georgia. The two had two children Frank and Sallie (my living grandmother) Brimmer. I have been unable to locate any Census information about either of my great grandparents...which I find odd. My grandma Sallie has no living memory of either of her parents as they both died shortly after she was born. Any information available about Bris or Lucy would be greatly appreciated. I can not find any more information that connects her to any of the Brimmers from NY. In the 1860 census they are listed as living in Berlin, Rensselaer, New York with a Godfrey Brimmer (aged 66, so born abt 1795). Also in the 1850 census Archibald and Susan are listed as living with a George Brimmer (age 79, born abt 1771) and Godfrey Brimmer again. I can not find anything more about this Godfrey and George. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mag BRIMMER which was taken at the B. F. Joy Studio in Ellsworth, Maine. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Mag likely in her 30's or 40's at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate her in census records as follows: 1880 census of Ellsworth, ME: J. H. BRIMMER, age 44, Assistant Post Master, born ME, parents born ME Maggie BRIMMER, wife, age 34, Keeping House, born ME, parents born ME Lucy H. HALE, other, age 26, Clerks in Store, born ME, parents born ME A. G. HALE, neice, age 13, at School, born ME, parents born ME I am hoping to locate someone from her family so that this beautiful old photograph can be returned to the care of her family.
