Hi All Following terrible finger trouble with my last message, it was sent out with more than half of it missing - I will try again. I am back to the Welsh side of the family - an entry appears in FreeBMD which I believe to be my GGMother. The entry reads: Births 1862 - BRIMMER Jane - Merthyr T - 11A - 369 - kira. Taking this information into the 1881 census gives her father as Thomas BRIMMER, born in Reading, Berkshire, and her mother as Mary Ann ? from Solihew, Warwick, England. (I think this may be Solihull). Thomas would have been born c 1822 and Mary Ann c 1829. On familysearch I have a Thomas BRIMMER christened on 14 Jul 1822 at St Mary, Reading, Berkshire, England. with parents Edward BRIMMER and Martha ? I would like to confirm these connections? Is there anyone else interested in the same name? Phil Marston, Amesbury, (Nr Stonehenge) Wiltshire UK. My John Brimmer was born December 10, 1812 in York State, Ransler Co. (this taken from family bible) and I assume it is meant New York state in Rensselaer Co. Cannot go back any further - can anyone help? I would be very interested in hearing of the journal written by family and coming over from Germany and also the Indian massacre.
Well the story of the indian Massacre took place in Petersburgh,NYin 1755. My GRT GRT GRT Grandfather Joheil Brimmer married a Seneca Indian around 1850's. It is said that we are also decendants of the Brimmers from the Indian Massacre as my GRT GRT Grandfather Rants brother, Charles Brimmer, daughter Lena Viva Brimmer wrote about the massacre. But there is a gap in the family line between the 1850's to 1755.
Out of curiosity do you know who the father and mother of your Uriah Brimmer are? My GRT GRT Grandfather VanRanslor ("Rant") had a brother Uriah. I have their known parents being Joheil/Jobile and Maria (smith) Brimmer. I'm trying to get a connection. we have family that wrote a journal about the family history, coming over from Germany and the Indian massacre. But we have a HUGE Gap to get the family lines connected.
I have come across an article regarding PETERSBURG'S Early history on RENSSELAER County farms. A paragraph in this article states: "Two Places where Indians havouaced while returning to Canada from pillaging New England villages can be located in the town at the present time. One is the Hans Lantman farm which is now occupied by Harry E. Green. The other site is the Johannas George Primmer (later known as Brimmer) farm, now occupied by Dr. Ida B. (Brimmer) Goss, a daughter of the late Henry J. Brimmer, which farm has always been occupied by some descendant of the original owner. This is the site of the Brimmer massacre." This article is from THE TROY TIMES, Troy,NY. No date n it but presume it is from about the 1930's. The article talks about Primmer now known as Brimmer but when Hans Georg Brimmer came over from Hamburg Germany the passanger list has his name as HANS GEORG BRIMMER. I'm not sure how Primmer came into play. Could have been a misunderstanding I presume.
This is to Dannie Brimmer in Phillipines.....I am Jim's wife in Waterloo, Ia...I also am doing research on Brimmer's and have just started so don't have much....reply back to me
