    1. [BRIMMER] Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team If anyone has an interest in finding alternative communication possibilities and/or suggestions for alternatives, please send a note to the list to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [BRIMMER] Re: Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim I am pretty sure teh reason people don't use the site is it seems almost impossible to get in. I tried to sign in and it wouldn't accept what I thought was my password. Then I tried to set up an account using my email address and it said that account existed. But when I then tried to use forgot password it said that it had no record of my email address. I went to another rootsweb page via google and tried again to set up a new account. Now it seemed to accept me but sent me an email to verify the address. It contained a huge link which wasn't clickable, so I copied it and pasted it into the browser address line. It said the page wasn't accessible. At this point I gave up. Bit of a shambles. David Quinn -----Original Message----- From: Jim Jackson Sent: Thursday, August 1, 2019 2:59 PM To: brimmer@rootsweb.com Subject: [BRIMMER] Help Keep This List Active I just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. 1. [BRIMMER] Rebecca Jones Brimmer - Youngstown, OH
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Contribution Surnames: Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.brimmer/173/mb.ashx Message Board Post: YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Mrs. Rebecca Jones Brimmer was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Doren? Georgia to the late Minister Anderson and First Lady Fannie Mae Jones. Rebecca passed away at the age of 91 at the home of her grandchildren, Aleshia (Brian) Morris, in the beautiful City of Chula Vista, California. She was surrounded by three generations of her loving family members. Shortly after her birth, the Jones family moved to the Northside of Youngstown, Ohio, also known as "The Monkey's Nest." This God fearing, strong and close knit community is where the Jones remained through the Great Depression and beyond. Rebecca was proud of her heritage growing up in the Monkey's Nest because families stuck together and would look out for each other with respect and pride. She developed a passion for her community. She had a strong sense of humility and humanity, which became her lifelong work as a caregiver. She would often state "charity begins at home." She opened her home up to many people in need. Rebecca was a woman of many talents including a bible scholar, caretaker, day care provider, educator and excellent cook. She was also an avid reader. Her favorite bible chapter was Psalms 23 and her preferred author was the renowned Ellen G. White. She loved listening to songstress Mahalia Jackson. For entertainment, she enjoyed the watching comedians Steve Harvey and Tyler Perry. In addition to her civic duties, Rebecca held various positions within her religious organization as a faithful member and associated founder of the Alpha and Omega Seventh Day Adventist Church in Warren, OH. As the matriarch to her family and church, Rebecca at age 90 decided to continue to pursue her education with the Stratford Institute, making the Dean's List on numerous occasions. Rebecca has lived beyond a full life seeing 15 U.S. presidents come into office. Most importantly, she witnessed the election of the first African American President of the United States, Barack Obama. On Sept. 6, 1942, Henry Brimmer and the former Rebecca Jones, brought together by love and faith in each other, decided to join in the Holy State of Matrimony, and together they have set a fine example for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by teaching them the importance of family values and family commitment. They shared many happy years together, traveling to many parts of the country and abroad. As a hobby, Rebecca collected souvenir plates from each part of the World they visited. Some of their travel was for pleasure and sometimes they were on mission trips. Rebecca and Henry remained happily married until his passing in 2006. In her mature years, Rebecca conquered colon and breast cancer. Through it all, she never complained. When she needed prayer and support, she could always depend on her lifelong friends - Estella Bender, Sara Carter and their families. She deeply respected Pastor Davis and First Lady Barbara Davis. She could also rely on Health care providers, Blondine Davenport, Elaine Wilson Home Healthcare and the Beeghly Oaks Nursing Home Staff. Rebecca admired Dr. Fred Pruitt, Dr. Larry Woods, Dr. Nathaniel and Dr. Vicky Doe and cousin, Dr. Alene Barnes. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her devoted daughter, Fran Campbell of Kent, Ohio; two special sisters, Mary Blanch Woods of Youngstown and Deborah McCright of Detroit; nieces and nephew, whom she reared, Linda (Robert) Barnett of Youngstown, Christine Wright of Las Vegas, and Kenneth (Vivian) Dixon of Los Angeles; and special brother in-law David Brimmer of Warren, Ohio. She was especially fond of her eldest nephew, Calvin Carr of Detroit. Rebecca was blessed with 16 grandchildren, Ebony Duckett, Esq., Aleshia Morris, TyRon Campbell, Tanika Campbell, Carmella Crews, Sabrina Dixon, Denise Boykin, Robert Barnett Jr., Talawrence Wright, Darronda Wright, Shalice Hall, LaTosha Findley, Fontaine Taylor, Briana Dixon, and Stacey Brandon; and a host of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. It was an honor for her to serve as godmother to Cassius Martin, Rebecca Mitchell, Gwen and Vincent Haines, Tamera Jarrett, Maurice Jones, Kasisi Daniels and Lanita Cummings. Preceding her in death were the love of her life, Henry Brimmer; stepson Henry Southerland (Porky); nephew Stanley Dixon, whom she reared; son-in-law Edward Campbell; god-daughter Mildred Martin; sisters Minister Lela Parker Wright and Vela Sly; and brothers Samuel Jones, Nathaniel Jones, and Jerry Outlaw. Calling hours will be Monday, June 23, 2014, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Temple Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church, 108 W. Indianola Ave., Youngstown, OH. Funeral services will follow immediately at 1 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home, Youngstown, OH Mahoning Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: canelson46 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.brimmer/143.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, My name is Charlie Nelson and I saw your post regarding the Brimmer/Records of Pastoral Acts. Christian and Catherine Weis Brimmer are my 5th great grand parents, I descend from their second child, Elizabeth. I have been trying to fill in some mystery voids in my family history, two of which are children of Christian and Lydia Brimmer, Richard and Adam Brimmer. I can find no record of them around New Holland / Earl with the rest of the family members particularly after the 1850 census. One source in our family history speculated that they went to McVeytown and settled, but I have not been able to confirm it. I have found references to a Richard and Adam Brimmer in McVeytown through death notices and census reccords. Do you know if these two are the same as the children of Christian and Lydia? Any insight would be kindly appreciated. Charlie Nelson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. A little bit off the track... I am searching info on one of my great grandparents, i.e. John Boulter who I believe was a convict. I found a record through the LINC Tasmania, Tasmania's Heritage site, " Register of Convict Applications for Permission to Marry " - and there is an entry for John Boulter to marry Ann Brimmer in 1939. I guess this is the same Ann Brimmer, and I assume that the marriage therefore never took place and she married Joseph Pedder instead. Most of my generations of Brimmer's resided in Wisconsin, and I believe that they may have originated from New York after coming over from Germany. I hit a roadblock once I started getting into the generations from New York. Perhaps there is someone out there with some solid information on my ancestors. Your help would be genuinely appreciated. I'm willing to share what I have if it can help someone else as well. Thanks! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
