You wouldnt happen to know what time frame this would have happened in? When did Jessie show up in Adair County for example. I'm thinking Sequatchie County might be a good place to start looking for the crime. ----- Original Message ----- From: "beaugard" <beaugard@infoave.net> To: <brimer@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 15, 2006 6:07 AM Subject: [BRIMER] Jack Brimer > Ms. Reynolds, > > My grandy always told me that her daddy, Jessie Darius Brimer, Jr., > married the daughter of his Uncle Jack Brimer. Ms. Reynolds, My grandy always told me that her daddy, Jessie Darius Brimer, Jr., married the daughter of his Uncle Jack Brimer. Jessie Brimer, Sr. was a veterans of the 4th KY Cavalry along with his first cousin Dan Dukes. After Jessie, Jr. married Sarah Catherine, she took up with another man, her father, JACK BRIMER, hunted him down and killed him. Jack Brimer was sented to the "pen" in Nashville for the killing. Jessie, Jr lefted and went to Adair County, Ky to live wirth his Uncle Dan Dukes. Sarah Catherine left and was not heared from again. This may not be true, but it was what my grandy always told me. You know how these types of stories get things added on to over the years. I do not know who "Jack" Brimer and Jessie Brimer, Sr. father was. I do know that Jessie Brimer, SR married 1856 Bledsoe County, TN to Nancy Catherine Dukes, the daughter of Steve Dukes and his wife Nancy McBride. Steve Dukes is buried at the Greenwood Cemetery near Doyle, TN, and is wife Nancy is buried at Beech Cove Cemetery, Van Buren County, TN in Sparkmantown Community. These families are connected, just not sure how? Thanks for your reply Landon, I would like to see an interest in this family started again Has anyone ordered the military records of Jackson? More on Sarah Catherine I have found the Marriage of Sarah Catherine to Jesse Brimer. I have not found record of her other marriages or the divorce record of her and Jessie D. Jessie Brimer and Catherine Brimer March 13, 1880 Warren County, Tn Book 2, page 342 I also found last week while visiting Tennessee James R. P. Brimer and Nancy A. Jones Feb 14, 1867 Dekalb County, but since James was born about 1865, I don't think this could be the right James, so which one is he? I am probably the one that gave Rae the info on Sarah being married to William P. Henry and this is what info I have on them Taken from Death Certificates William Howard Henry born 1/01/1894, died 2/21/1953 in Vanderburgh County, In We knew him. His bible states that his mother was Sarah Catherine Brimer and William P. Henry. Also taken from Death Certificate Malinda Henry born 7/27/1890 died 7/19/1938 in Vanderburgh County, In States father was Perry Henry and mother Catherine Brimer By 1900, Sarah is an Estes living in Cannon County We have my grandmother's birth date as May 1, 1900, I think she was born sometime later. Her name was Lillie May Estes. 1900 Cannon County Census 11th district Estes, William jan 1844 , Sarah Mar 1865 , Linda Apr 1882 , Willie Jan 1890 , John Jan 1892 , Jesse feb 1896 , Lige May 1897 On William Howard Henry's obit, it list half brother's John, Jess and Lige and half sister, Mrs Earl Lehew which is my grandmother. Also nephew, Thomas Keaton It was thought that some of the estes boys could have been full brother's to Lillie. I found in a newpaper clipping where a Mrs William Estes died November 29, 1903 and failed to put down where I found this out, kicking myself for that. I had such a hard time following this family, I thought it was too good to be true and there was many Mrs William Estes in the area. I have been searching for years trying to find where these children went to when Sarah died. William Howard first married 1916 to Ellen McCarty in Montgomery County, Tn. Ellen was from Dickson County, Tn. They moved to Hamilton County, Oh where Ellen died shortly after giving birth to a daughter, Elizabeth Jane Henry. William then moved to Florence, Al where he married Mattie Vessel in 1918 William and Mattie moved to Evansville, In where Malinda Henry was already living with son, Thomas Keaton, his death certificate shows date of birth as 01/10/1905, died 1/08/1958, states father is John Keaton, mother Malinda Henry In 1920, Malinda is shown as being divorced. On Jess Estes' draft registration in Van Buren County, it says that he was born Sept 12, 1896 in Painsville, Tn (Van Buren County) I found 2 marriages for him, one to Ova Curtis and the other to maggie Tucker and when I relayed this info to my mother she remembered His wife she met being named Maggie. My grandmother couldn't tell us much other than she lived with the tim Moore family when she met and married my grandfather. I tracked them down and found where Tim and Fannie Moore ran the Pentacostal Home for Girls in Nashville, Tn. They had a son named Tim that moved to Wilson County and I feel this is probably the Tim Moore family she lived with. She had a photo of her and a little girl that matches with the children on the 1920 census of Wilson county and the Tim Moore family. So far, I have been unable to find anything on john and Lige. My thought is maybe someone from the Brimer family may have taken some of these children when Sarah died, so if anyone has run across a probate they didnt understand, this is what it is.
Is there anyone researching this family? Jackson Brimer and Angeline Beaty Sarah Catherine Brimer James Brimer Jackson then married Josephine Deweese This is a Dekalb County, Tn family moved to Putnam County around 1900. Sue Reynolds

William married Sarah Taylor and they had a son Calvin, which is the grandson in the 1900 census, living with William and Mary Brimer. William Blythe had died before 1900. William and Mary Rutherford Blythe Brimer had children Florence, John, Alice, Emma, George, and May. George and May were twins born in 1880. I would still need information about William C. and Sarah (Taylor) Blythe who married 13 Nov 1881 in Cobb County, Georgia.

Brimer (aka Brymer) (b. abt 1837) of Gaston and York Counties. I was told by my mother in law that her grandfather, James P., was buried in Clover, York County, SC, but his grave was not marked by a tombstone. I have never been able to find a record of his burial in Clover. However, just this last week, my husband and I found him in Gaston County! He is buried in Old Goshen Grove Cemetery just north of Belmont next to his wife, Rachel C. Martin Brymer. They were buried near Samuel Martin, Revolutionary patriot, who was most likely her grandfather. Rachel’s dates are 14 Jun 1829 – 6 July 1884. Unfortunately, James P.’s stone carries no dates and only refers to his Confederate Service unit. Much of the info I have gleaned is through census records, but the information is somewhat contradictory. I am including the info I have picked up below in case anyone sees a connection to their own family and can help me confirm this information. Any help in tying James P. Brimer would be appreciated. In the 1850 Gaston NC census, a James Brimer (age 15) was listed in the household of A. Foster as a laborer. Two houses before the Foster household was the household of John Brimer (age 27), wife Elizabeth (27), son G. S. (11), daughter Althea (12), daughter Ruth (10), son J. P. (8), daughters Jane (6) and Eliza (4 mos.) I suspect this John Brimer may have been a brother of James P, but the age of this James does not quite match the estimated birthdate of James P. Either does that of the child J.P. Brimer in John Brimer's home, although the 15 year old sounds closest. In the 1860 Gaston County, NC Census1860, James (23) and Caroline Brimer (31) were listed in the household of George Martin (possibly the son of Samuel Martin) in Gaston County, with son George (age 1). Also listed in that household was a woman named Martha Stewart (age 23). It is a strong assumption at this point that Caroline was daughter to George and Martha Martin. It might also be conjectured that Martha Stewart could be another daughter, perhaps widowed, of George Martin or a relative of James P. Brimer. She appears in his household through numerous censuses. In the 1870 NC Census, a James Brimer (age 35) was found in Dallas, Gaston county living with wife Caroline or Candace(name was difficult to make out - she is listed as also being age 35), a son Martin (age 12), daughter Eliza (9), and son James (1). In the house next door were two women, one named Martha Stewart, aged 27, and the other Martha Martin, aged 75. In the 1880 NC Census, James Brimer (age 43) was again found in Gaston County, located in the South Point area. Living with him was wife, Rachel C. (possibly Caroline?) age 57, son George M. (Martin?), daughter Martha M. (age 18), son William S. (possibly Stewart?) (age 11) and niece Martha Stewart (age 43). Two houses before James Brimer's household, a John Brimer (age 37) lived with wife Mary (age 50), son Pinkney (age 15) and daughter Docie (age 11). Could this John Brimer be James' brother? Since I now know that Rachel Caroline Brymer died in 1884, it appears James P. had remarried by 1888, as Cora Lee (1894), James L. (1888) and Mary (Abt 1893) Brimer's mother was Emma, not Rachel. Neither Emma nor James P. are found in the 1900 census. However, in the 1910 York County, SC Census, James' 2nd wife Emma was listed as Emma Gordon (age 52), widowed and head of household. In her household were the following children: Stepsons S(ummy) Gordon (19) and B(roadus) Gordon (17) (leading me to suspect she was the second wife of Lawson Henderson Gordon by that time - however Lawson Gordon was listed as alive and living in the home of one of his sons at this time – a very confusing concept if Emma was supposedly widowed), son Jim Brimer (21), daughters Mary N. (or H.) Brimer (17) and Cora L. Brimer (14). All five children were listed as having been born in South Carolina. Emma was listed as having been born in North Carolina, as were her parents. There is no indicati! on at this time as to who her parents might have been or if she was married before marrying James P. Brimer. Some records indicate her last name may have been Massey, but James L. Brimer’s death certificate indicates his mother’s name was Emma Alice Jenkins. Unfortunately this document also lists his father as James “B.” Brimer, not James “P.” Brimer. Curiouser and curiouser! James P. must have passed shortly after Cora Lee’s birth (1894) and before 1900 as no other children were listed in the household. If you stayed with this dissertation without getting totally lost, you will have noted the confusion in the records I have found thus far. Any help straightening this mess out is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I know nothing of this couple other than the fact that they were married prior to the following deed dates. I do not find this couple listed in the book MARRIAGES of JEFFERSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE 1792-1836. William Brimer, father of Tabitha, was born in NC in 1759. He married Elizabeth ..?.. in 1784 in Washington County, NC. They lived in Rutherford County, North Carolina from September, 1785 to 1810. After that they lived in Jefferson and Sevier Counties in Tennessee. In a Jefferson County, TN Deed dated 6 Nov 1835 and registered March 19, 1840 William Brimer is shown to have a daughter by the name of Tebitha Rodgers. In a Jefferson County, TN Deed dated 6 November 1835 and registered 9 March 1847, William Brimer is shown to have a daughter by the name of Seboth Rogers. I would like to know, if possible, where George & Tabitha were married, where they lived afterward, and any children they may have had. Any information would be very much appreciated. ...Marjorie Mamt1984@aol.com
Hi again, Kathy, I wish that I could locate the copy of Benjamin Brimer's Last Will & Testament that I have here someplace, but I've moved twice since I received it and a lot of my records have been in boxes for years. I don't have a clue where to find it just now. That said, just a few weeks ago, I was in contact with one of the gggrandsons of William Nelson Brimer/Brymer. He informed me that Wm. Nelson was the son of Joseph Brimer/Brymer, not Benjamin. Also, William Nelson Brimer/Brymer died in Alabama. My gggggrandfather, Wm. Brimer, born 1759 (the Rev. War Vet.) died in Sevier County, TN. This is documented in the Widow's Pension Papers of Elizabeth Brimer (William's wife) File # 336. Therefore, Wm. Nelson Brimer/Brymer & Wm. Brimer, Rev. War Vet. cannot be the same person. I, too, believe, but have no documentation, that the 4 Brimers in the 1790 Census were related. This is just speculation on my part, of course. Here is the info that I have on Benjamin Brimer. Can you add anything to this? ...Marjorie Descendants of Benjamin Brimer Generation No. 1 1. BENJAMIN1 BRIMER was born Abt. 1733 in North Carolina, and died Bef. A Columbia SC genealogy professor Brent Holcomb commented that he saw no relationship states to the William and James Brimer in the will. There is no info that they were minors at the time. The will makes no mention of real property. It is odd that Rebecca and Joseph applied for letters of administration, since there was a will. There is no administration bond on file. Thies is food indicaiton that Joseph was likely the eldest son who under English primogeniture law inherited all the land. The citation for letters of administration were published at Roberts Congregation, a Presbyterian Church. Sale of his personal property was 2 days of sale and totaled $516.34 on November 10 and 13, 1803. Rebecca was already married to Van Davis by Oct 28, 1803 (1 month after Benjamin's death). There may be a connection with the 4 Brimers in the 1790 Census and Joseph and William have War pensions and Jesse has a land grant in Burke County, NC 1798. Benjamin dies about Sept 9, 1803 and Rebbeca marries Van Davis Oct 1803 at Old Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Pendleton District. Benjamin is propable the father of William and Jesse as well as Joseph. >From: Mamt1984@aol.com >Reply-To: BRIMER-L@rootsweb.com >To: BRIMER-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [BRIMER] In search of George Rogers and wife, Tabitha Brimer >Rogers >Date: Tue, 4 Jul 2006 01:53:03 EDT > > >Kathy, >That's very interesting. Am looking for information on John Brimer born about 1815 in Jefferson County, Tennessee according to his U. S. Army records in the Indian Wars. He married a Holybee girl about 1835 to 1840 probably in Monroe County, Tennessee or a nearby county or they may have married around Fort Gibson, Indian Territory (Oklahoma) where he was stationed in the Army. The Holybee girl was born about 1820. (Source: This information came from the pension record 2750 and 3798 of Hezekiah Holybee (her brother) for the Indian Wars.) John Brimer died 24 Oct 1843 in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. while in the military. They may have had children but the Holybee girl whose name was changed to Brimer most likely married again so am looking for any census that may have Brimer children with parents of a different name. I know the Holybee family lived in Indian Territory (Oklahoma) in 1840s, Green and Platte Counties in Missouri in 1850s, Crawford (Fort Smith) County, Arkansas, 1850s then on to Texas and Oklahoma from 1850s to present. Some may be interested in this . A National Archives Film #350326 M-233, Roll 20, Volume 41 has on page 9, John Brimer, age 21, grey eyes, fair hair, fair complection, 5 feet 6 inches tall, born in Te (Tennessee), Jefferson County, enrolled in U. S. Army on March 6th, 1836, at Camp Hunting by Lt. Hooper for 3 years, was in the 4th Regiment, Company F, and discharged March 5, 1839 at expiration of service at Fort Gibson, Arkansas. (Private) meaning that was his rank in service. Then in the same film in Volume 42, page 23, #236 is Brimer, John, age 24, grey eyes, fair hair, fair complection, 5 feet six inches tall, born Te. (Tennessee), Jefferson County, occupation - soldier, enlisted July 1st, 1839 at Ft. Gibson, by Lt. Scott, for five years in 4th inf. Co., F. Died October 24, 1843, 2nd enlistment, at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. (A Private). The pension record of Hezekiah Holybee, his brother-in-law, also states he died in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri while in service. Thanks for any help. I have searched high and low, but have found no documentation to this point as to the actual maiden name of Elizabeth Brimer. I have searched for any Elgins in the areas that Elizabeth was known to live, but have found none. I know the origination of the Elgin rumor and I know there was no documented foundation for that particular rumor. I would like to hope that someone somewhere has a document that gives her maiden name. ...Marjorie ================================================== In a message dated 7/4/2006 1:08:40 A.M.
