Admittedly, I have very little information about these Bridges (one of those families that has been difficult to trace). However, I am most willing to exchange and share the information I DO have and hopefully I can help with information regarding related families. Husband: James BRIDGES Birth: 1800 Place: Georgia Occupation: Farmer Other Spouses Nancy ROWLAND Marriage: October 27, 1831 Place: Greene County, Georgia Wife: Susan D. COPELAND Birth: 1807 Place: Georgia >> Hope, The other spouse of James BRIDGES, Nancy ROWLAND. Is that your own research, or did you get it from someone else? I ask because your James, who married Susan D. COPELAND, is believed to be the brother of my Hardy BRIDGES of Greene Co. GA, who married Nancy COPELAND. If you notice in the census for Greene Co. GA, for 1850, your James and Susan are listed, but, also, a James and Nancy (ROWLAND) are listed. So in my opinion, we are dealing with two different James BRIDGES. The family of my Hardy moved to Attala Co. MS, and were there by 1860. Hardy died on the trip or shortly afterward. Susan and Nancy COPELAND were the daughters of John D. COPELAND who was listed as John D. COPLIN on his marriage certificate in Oglethrope Co. GA in 1795 where he married Nancy DORSEY. John D. COPELAND was a Cherokee, and I feel that maybe Nancy DORSEY was also, as I haven't found much at all on the DORSEYs. James and Hardy's mother was Cherry (I believe POWELL) who was living with Hardy BRIDGES and family in the census of Greene Co. GA, 1850, age 85, b. NC, along with her brother, Hugh POWELL, age 75, b. NC. They are believed to be the children of Lewis POWELL of NC, Rev. War soldier who drew a pension in GA. I would love to have the info on your line of this family. Mine went to AR when yours went to TX. Julia French Wood
