To Jeanne at ejarguelles@msn.com and any other Bridges researchers this info may help: * * * * * * * * * * * * * * >From the book "The History of Oglethorpe County, Georgia" by Florrie C. Smith (c1970, Wilkes Publishing Co.)-- "William Bridges, the first of this family to migrate to Oglethorpe County, was from Ireland and came first to Savannah. Soloman Bridges, his brother, also finally moved here. I do not know who either married. William's family group was as follows: William, James L., John W., Henry, Richard M., Solomon T., Elizabeth, Susan, Kizzie, Almeda, Mandy, Jane. "Soloman's children were: William married Martha Jordan on Sept. 8, 1824; David never married; James; three girls were born also to this union, one married Deadwyler; one Settles; and one Adams. This record given by family." * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Jeanne, I didn't see anything other than what's shown above on your Mary "Polly" Bridges or the marriage to Settles, but I don't have access to the whole book anymore. I am a descendant of Richard M. Bridges listed above. I'm currently working on the Ireland to Savannah portion of their history, but am hitting only dead- ends. Any info on William Bridges Sr. would be greatly appreciated. Good luck, everyone, with your searches! catgs@aol.com
