Hello! I'm new to this list, but I have GA/AL connections to the BRIDGES family. My GGG'father, Hillard Dillard Bridges was born near Lawrenceville, Gwinnett Co. GA in 1830. I've suspected that his father was a Solomon Bridges. Solomon came from NC as an orphan with his brothers Meschach and Shadrach as apprentices. Unfortunately, the courthouse was burned during Shermans march to Atlanta. Hillard Dillard BRIDGES and his family wound up in St. Clair Co. AL where he was known as Squire BRIDGES. He was a county commissioner and justice of the peace. He was also called the hanging judge. I also saw a reference to Thomas Bowling GAY.... If someone is researching this marriage, it might be worth their while to subscribe to the BOWLING- L@rootsweb.com because the name Thomas is very prominent in much BOWLING research.
