Karen, Two of my Bridges, in one family, have the middle name of Green - one being my ancestor, Mariah Green Bridges, the other her younger brother, Edmond Green Bridges. Parents were Jonathan & Nancy (Paton) Bridges, who married in SC, had one child there, and then went to Barren Co., KY and next Allen Co., KY. In 1829 they went to Lawrence and Martin Co.'s of Indiana. I find it interesting that your Bridges also has "Green" for the middle name, and can't help but wonder if they all came from the same families in the Carolina's. There was a William Bridges, b. 1766, NC, who went to Barren & Green Co.'s of KY, and he had a son named Joel Bridges, b. 1813, KY, who m. in Martin Co., Indiana, Lucinda Faith/or Feit, in 1837. This line went to Indiana in the early 1820's. This line also produced two more Joel Bridges that I have records for. Some of my Bridges line settled in Worth Co., MO, first being in Ringgold Co., IA by 1860. I think there might be a relationship with William and Jonathan Bridges (b. 1775, SC), but cannot find proof yet. Since their KY homes bordered on Tenn., I also have the feeling that they were tied to some of the Tenn. Bridges. I had other lines that went from VA to NC to TN then to KY and then up into IN. So it was a common route. If you can find any resemblances, please let me know. Donna
Thanks, Donna....I'll keep your info. Nothing pops out "at me" so far, but you never know. If anyone sees JAMES C. BRIDGES, with a wife LUCY....This could be my JOEL C. as well....On one of the MO census, it is written that way....just to confuse things.
