I am wondering if your Joseph could be a son of Walter Bridges, who died in Christian County, KY in 1806. He had at least three sons that we know of: John, William, and Abney. His wife was Mary Scott, daughter of John Scott. He seems to have descendants near the KY/TN border, then on into TN. Abney actually ended up in Mississippi.
