Hi Judy; Unfortunately, I don't have much more info on Robert A. Bridges other than, according to census records, he was born in 1837. The 1840 Poinsett Co., AR census shows Joseph Bridges with one male under 5 in the household, which I believe to be Robert A. Bridges. The 1850 Poinsett Co., AR census, Mitchell Twp. shows Robert A. living in the household of Lewis W. Bridges and his wife Nancy. On that census, his age is listed as 13. Joseph does not appear on that census, so I believe that he has passed and Robert A. is living with his oldest brother. He is not found on the 1860 census, but neither is his brother George. A small booklet written by my great grandfather Clarence Gilbert Bridges, titled 'Us Bridges' indicates that the family moved to Missouri just prior to the Civil War and returned to Poinsett Co., near the end of the war. George Bridges is present again in Poinsett Co., AR for the 1870 census, but Robert A. is not listed. According to the 'Us Bridges' booklet; "Now my grandpa [George S. Bridges] had two brothers and they were all in the war. None of them ever made it back to their home place so far as grandpa knew." And that is the extent of what I know about Robert A. Bridges... Best Regards and good hunting!
