    2. Marjorie Bridges
    3. James Bridges, son of Catherine Evans and Dillon Bridges, was born June 24, 1789 in Virginia; moved with his parents to Fleming County, KY in 1799 or 1800, and died Oct. 8, 1878 in Charlestown, Clark Co., IN and his remains are in the Charlestown Cemetery with his son Dillon, Dillon's wife Mary, and a granddaughter Matilda. He married 21 Mar 1810 in Fleming Co., KY to Nancy Fitch. She died 1 May, 1861 in Jefferson County, IN, and she was buried in the Marling Church cemetery. She was born Jan. 25, 1790 in Fleming Co. James served in the War of 1812 as a private and then a drummer. After leaving KY sometime between 1815-1819, he bought and sold land in several places in Indiana: Wayne County, Rush County, Jefferson County, and finally he ends up living in the household of son Dillon in Clark County. I was able to travel around Indiana to retrace his steps this past fall and was impressed by the open spaces and beauty that still remain in southern Indiana. Ethel Hoke of Colorado gave me most of the information about James and Mary's children, some of it vertified by records kept by my husband's family. She mostly followed Dillon's line down, as this was her family. We have a little bit about the other siblings, and I have A LOT about James/Mary's son Joseph, as this is my husband's line. This is the basic info about the children of James and Nancy. 1. Dillon, a lawyer, b. 7 Jun 1812 VA, m. 27 Jan 1834 Mary (Gilbert) Ranck, d. 29 Sep 1886. Served in Civil War.
