Hey Gay I am told that there is a part of SC and NC that were once in GA. You might take a look at the possibility that both are correct. Gay If you descend from James"the Spy", yes, we are cousins. I didn't know this until the DNA test and probably never would have since I still have not connected to him other than the fact that Douglas Bridges and I are perfect matches and he knows that is where he descends from. If I remember correctly you are somewhere in the Humble, TX, Harris County, area. If my memory is correct we probably have crossed paths and didn't know it. I just moved from Atascocita on Lake Houston about 2 years ago. Let me know what your tree looks like. I am still trying to find the parentage of my ggGrandfather James M. Bridges. I think he must be from one of James "the Spy's" brothers. Gay Lake Houston is the Lake that is between Kingwood and Humble. Since you grew up in Baytown did you by chance know a guy named Plowden Bridges? When I was in high school there was a guy that played for Baytown by that name. He was about 6'5" tall at the time. There were also an Allen Wilkerson that went to high school in Baytown that is a cousin from the Bridges side of my bunch. I never did find out if Plowden was related to me. I live in Boerne, Tx. It's about 28 miles NW of San Antonio just in the edge of the Hill Country. I've never heard of Portland. It must be on the big River! Good to find out about another cousin.
