Posted on May 28, 2004 Julia B. Cox WOODRUFF, SC-- Julia Bridges Cox, 91, formerly of 515 North Main Street, Woodruff died Thursday, May 27, 2004. A native of Blacksburg, she was the daughter of the late Luther B. and Alice Martin Bridges and the widow of Thomas Wright Cox Jr. Mrs. Cox was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodruff, where she formerly served as W.M.U. Director and Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years. Having graduated from Winthrop College, she did her graduate study at The University of North Carolina, she retired as Dean of Girls for District Four Schools and was also a Math teacher. She was also a former Board member of The Spartanburg County Library for over 20 years. In 1984 she received The Citizen of the Year award from the Woodruff Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include a brother, Paul A. Bridges, of Simpsonville; sister, Mary B. Alexander, of Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of Woodruff First Baptist Church from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2004 prior to the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Andrew Shull and Rev. Ryan Eklund will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
