Keith- At this time, I have fairly solid reason to believe that my John's father was named Edwin BRIDGES (d bef 2 Feb 1783). I have seen a copy of Edwin's will thanks to a researcher who is related to me though John's mother, Mary DICKINSON. Now just to be confusing, Edwin's father was also named John (d 1764 in Northampton Co, NC). So, my direct line look something like this: John BRIDGERS (m/Faith RUFFIN) Edwin BRIDGES (m/Mary DICKINSON) John BRIDGES (m/?) Wm Clayton BRIDGES [Sr] (m/Amanda MANTLO) Wm Clayton BRIDGES (m/Mary FORT) *John Thompson BRIDGES (m/Gillie McMURRY) *Gillie and John BRIDGES were my Ggrandparents. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler P.O. I am trying to connect to my ancestors and a very likely distant cousin of mine said that she thought we were descended from a William Bridges of NC. She is descended from a John Bridges of GA. A William Bridges of NC showed-up in some brief records, but not enough to make a good connection to John. John Bridges had several sons; the son I would have descended from was named William.
