Gay and Julia, The gentleman that is taking the test was sick when he received the packet so did not take it right away. I forgot to ask his wife last week if she had mailed it back yet. I will try to remember to ask tomorrow. It is my understanding that it still takes six to eight weeks from that time to get the results, is that right Julia? She is to bring me the release form though and I will mail it to Julia along with the tree. One came in last night, but I don't have the Consent form or the Ancestor chart, so I can't post the results. I believe that it is the Nathaniel of GA line and it is a match to the GA-1 group. I can't get the participant to respond to my email. Julia
Julia, it had been several weeks since our test, about how long does it take to get the results? The test requires a male with the surname of Bridger, Bridgers, Bridges, etc. as the DNA that is used for matching is passed only from father to son, to son, etc. If you are a female, you must have a male relative of the Bridges surname submit the DNA. After you have entered your personal data, we encourage you to choose the 25-marker Y-DNAplus test, which is the second choice in the dropdown menu, since a match with another participant with 25 markers is more meaningful than a match with 12 markers. If you prefer to choose the 12-marker Y-DNA test at this time, you can upgrade at a later date. The prices shown on the website are the discounted prices for our group project by FamilyTreeDNA.com. As soon as you have joined, I will send you more information about the DNA Project. We are glad you are joining us in utilizing this exciting new tool in family history research. What are the dates for Col. Joseph Bridger? Did he only live at Isle of Wright county? I have a Joseph Bridges in Frederick County that I am trying to find parents and a first wife for. 1-1. Joseph BRIDGES, b. about 1730-35 probably in VA. Died intestate before 20 Feb. 1796 in Frederick Co., VA. (Other researchers thought he was born about 1720 in VA (temple record 6142804) or b. 1733 at Prince William, VA, with William Bridges as his father, b. abt. 1700 <VA>.) With his wife Mrs. Mary <Rees> Dillon he had a son named Dillon Bridges. Margie
m on vacation and have visited Isle of Wight VA. Took a picture of Colonel Joseph Bridger grave inside the Church's floor where he was moved to from his plantation, He was affluent man. One of his sons, JOHN was in Goldsboro and I have learned he was a a Rev soldier thereby making any of his decendants eligible for DAR or SAR. Also learned from Goldsboro Public Library Historical section that North Carolina added the S on the end of the naqmes of the Bridger faqmily. Therefore we now haqve Bridgers who later become Bridges, my family.
We, now, have in our DNA Project the DNA of the Herrod Bridges, Allen Jones Bridges and Col. Joseph Bridger. Of course, it will be several weeks before the results are in and I can hardly stand the wait. If any of you think you may match these or any, already, in our DNA project, find that male relative. Julia
Does anyone claim the Walton Bridges on the reconstructed 1790 census of Franklin County, GA? Is he the same Walton/Walter Bridges who appeared in KY from the mid 1790's till his death in 180(6)? Dawnene
Hi Steph, Have you tried unsubscribing to this address BRIDGES-L@rootsweb.com (with your email) and re-subscribing to this one BRIDGES-D-request@rootsweb.com (with a different one, if needed)? This will make the emails into one that you get everyday, instead of everytime someone emails a message you get it. Good luck, and hope this helps. Pam Hello Steph, I am not totally certain what it is that you are asking. Julia, I was in touch with Anne several years ago, and she was very helpful then. Her PADGETT grandfather is a brother to my PADGETT grandmother. Guess I need to contact her again on the BRIDGES. Thanks so much, Velma
Very good, Leslie. Sounds like the kind of list I like. I'm looking forward to being here. Thanks very much. Velma
