    3. I'm so glad to see all the Bridges postings from Texas. Some of my Bridges kinfolk migrated to Texas from Alabama in the early 1930's (great uncle. John Bridges migrated to Texas City) and my uncle Ellis Bridges moved from Selma Alabama in the 1940's to the same area. My great, great grandfather Thomas Bridges settled in Shelby Co Alabama in the mid 1830's and died in May 1850. I'm stumped. Can't pick up the trail prior to his Alabama settlement. There is a James Bridges in Shelby Co Ala. at the same time and I suspect they were brothers but have no proof. If you have any hints or clues, I 'd appreciate your thoughts. 2. Revolutionary Soldiers who drew land in Georgia in the "Lottery of 1827" and the counties they lived in shows Wiseman Bridges in Jasper County. He is the only male Bridges shown on the whole page. Widows that received land were Rebecca Bridges in Washington, Susanna Bridges in Morgan and Susanna Bridges in Greene. Wanda

    3. Robert Some of those people should be part of my line but I don't know how. My Bridges lived in Carroll County and Coweta County. My James M. Bridges was born in 1812 and died in Carroll County. There was a James Marion Bridges that ended up in Louisiana. He had some siblings with some of the same names that you list. I guess that the Nathaniel Bridges DNA will tell the tale. Graham ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert E. 2. Robert E. Johnston
    3. Hello Bridges List, All this talk about the Bridges folks in Texas causes me to ask again about a Bridges line I have worked for some years, and have lost somewhere in Texas. Ancelem S. "Ancel" Bridges, born circa 1814, Georgia, son of Wiley Jones Bridges, married Huldah Westmoreland in 1837 in Coweta County Georgia. She was born in 1816, Georgia, daughter of Reuben Westmoreland. They are listed in the 1850 census in Coweta County and in the 1860 census in Carroll County, Georgia. Before 1870, they are thought to have removed to near Ennis, Ellis County, Texas, where both are said to be buried. I have not been able to find them in the 1870 or 1880 census. >From the aforementioned census records, they had, all born in Georgia: 1. Keziah Bridges (c. 1838). 2. Mary Jones "Sis" Bridges (c. 1839), who married (1) Barney Thompson, two children, and (2) David Warren. 3. Morgan Bridges (c. 1840). 4. James M. Bridges (c. 1842). 5. Simon or Simmons Bridges (c. 1844). 6. Julia Ann Bridges (c. 1846), who married W.A. Martin. 7. Reuben Bridges (c. 1848). 8. Henrietta Bridges (c. 1849), who married Thomas Henry Stephenson. 9. William Bridges (c. 1850). 10. Martha A. Bridges (c. 1853). 11. Ezekiel Bridges (c. 1855). 12. Anker or Anka??? Bridges (c. 1857). 13. Arain? Bridges (c. 1859). Does anyone have access to Ellis County census records for 1870? I could not find any of these folks. I'm probably looking in the wrong place. They are all on the line reflected in the DNA test page attributed to Nathaniel Bridges of North Carolina (Number 13185). Any help appreciated! Bob Johnston

    2. Hi-- Have seen lots of action from the Texas lines--thought I'd chime in as well. I have an Edward Bridges (1852-1935) who went to Texas from Missouri and no one in the family seems to know anything else about him--any thoughts out there? His parents were Coleman Lowery and Eliza Spencer Bridges. Thanks Jan LeGere

His parents were Coleman Lowery and Eliza Spencer Bridges. Man, that really rang a bell, so I went looking through my files and found a Coleman Carver married to an E M A Spencer. (Not Emma, the initials E. M. A. - could have been Eliza). Birth and death dates are way off, though. Just coincidence. Thought I was onto something. :-(

While I was poking around up there in northeast TX looking for my line, I ran across another bunch up in Titus county, but they weren't connected to me (at least not in TX -- they might have been distant cousins). That's not your bunch, is it? Haven't heard about Wiseman Burson. I have a very good paper trail from Georgia to Mississippi to Texas. My Wiseman married an Isabella Pannell in Georgia. In Georgia, on one of the census sheets (1840 I think, don't have my binder in front of me at the moment), Wiseman and Isabella are living on one farm, the next farm over is Isabella's dad Zachariah Pannell, and the next farm is a Wiley Bridges. Always thought Wiley was connected, but haven't been able to show it.

    3. David Have you considered getting a DNA test to determine your line. I have been able to locate 7 cousins that are all matches. We are working now to determine which siblings were responsible for the various families. There was a James Presley Bridges that died in Corpus Christi in 1962. That is part of the Bridges clan that I am connected to. I don't know how we were connected yet but I found it out through DNA. If you try the DNA group you will probably find some connections.
