Strange how the names keep popping up in the Bridges groups that are alike. My grandfather was a Clarence Bridges born in 1883 in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Small world and it keeps tightening it's belt, it seems. Wanda

Hi Gay--My father had a cousin named Clarence Bridges. He was born in Wythe Co. VA in 1907. In 1930, he is listed in that county as married to May, but he could have gone to TX later. If these dates match, I know quite a bit about his family--Wes. -----Original Message----- From: Gay Botsford [mailto:gbot@seark.net] Sent: Saturday, November 22, 2003 12:00 AM To: BRIDGES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BRIDGES-L] Clodella I finally got some information from Clodella Bridges..(my Dad's first cousin) if someone knows anything of this family, I would love to hear from you... Burkburnett is between Wichita Falls and Lawton, Ok. - the very north part of Tx. Beaumont is near Houston - the south east part of Tx.

Graham, I think that the oil fields might have something to do with their life, I think they lived in or around Beaumont TX..I know you have heard of "Old Spindle Top" he could have worked there... hugs, Gay > Gay > > Do you know what part of the country they were in before their marriage. > Did they grow up in Burkburnett? Graham mentioned Burkburnett, TX ======= With TX being such a big state, I find it interesting how often the name of this town shows up in genealogical circles. My Ggrandfather lived in Carroll County, MO, where he had his first lumber yard. And yet, during his business' expansion he began another yard in Burkburnett. That is how my grandmother's brother (and now that whole part of the family) ended up in far-away Texas. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler Carrollton, MO & Glendale, AZ
Gay Do you know what part of the country they were in before their marriage. Did they grow up in Burkburnett? There were a lot of people that migrated their because of the oil field discoveries. I had an uncle that lived in Wichita Falls, Tx that followed the oil field work but he was a welder and usually was involved in the pipe line work after the oil was found. your cousin Graham putter@gvtc.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gay Botsford" <gbot@seark.net> To: <BRIDGES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 21, 2003 11:00 PM Subject: [BRIDGES-L] Clodella > > I finally got some information from Clodella Bridges..(my Dad's first cousin) if someone knows anything of this family, I would love to hear from you... > Gay > > > Clodella Roberta Posey married Clarence Bridges in Burkburnett TX July 17, 1938 > > Children: 1. The reason for Burkburnett so popular was a large oil strike there. Lumber was used for oil derricks before steel and portable drilling. glp --- Leslie Kohler <Aug67@att.net> wrote: > Graham mentioned Burkburnett, TX > ======= > With TX being such a big state, I find it > interesting how often the name > of this town shows up in genealogical circles.
