I appreciate your patience with me and all my delays. To top it off, I got pneumonia, but I think I have all the results posted that I have the data for. Let me know if there are errors. http://www.small-stuff.com/BRIDGES/ Julia French Wood

If you have a W.H. BRIDGES, you might want to look at the newspaper article posted at http://theoldentimes.com/constable.html He is *not* mine, and I have no further information. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler
I don't think so, Leslie. There seem to be at least 3 different John Bridges in the area. I have finally differentiated them by the land they paid taxes on. Mine and yours lived close by each other, but mine did not receive land in your John's land divisions. My John(s) remained on Deer Creek in Livingston County; another John's lands were closeby on Caney Fork of the Tradewater River, and on Crooked Creek (I think that one is yours.) Then, there is a Robt Bridges who recieved 200 acres of land on Sandy Creek in June of 1799, while in Sept of 1799, a William Bridges , assignee of James Bridges of S.C., received 400 acres of land on Livingston Creek. All these Bridges lived relatively close by each other in Livingston County. Dawnene, I am a little confused at this point. Is this the same John that was my GGGGgrandfather (b 1782 NC & d bef 5 Feb 1816)? I ask because I don't know much about him. Any Sisk research in this group of Bridges families? And does this mean that probably my Bridges is really a Sisk, or Vice Versa? Thanks, Dawnene < No, we are instructed to ignore any 12/12 matches with other surnames we are most likely not related within a time frame where we have documents to prove it. Unless you find after a long time, you have no Bridges matches and your markers are very different from the other Bridges families. Then you could contact the other person to see if they have family in the same place at the same time as your Bridges family. There is, always, the possibility of an adoption where the last name changed. Julia
Hey again: My Bridges DNA turned up a 12/12 match with someone with the last name of Sisk. Any Sisk research in this group of Bridges families? And does this mean that probably my Bridges is really a Sisk, or Vice Versa? Thanks, Dawnene
