Greetings to my Cousins! I am now convinced that "Susannah" Huckaby, wife of Thomas Bridges and then Zachariah Robertson, mother of Herod Bridges and Wiley Robertson was named Sansanah rather than Susannah. The documents I have are a mixed bag but the evidence seems to fall on the side of "Sansanah". Sources: 1.. Putnam County Indenture dated 1/12/1824. Selling a parcel of land on Rock Creek to her son Herod Bridges. The lawyer refers to her several times in the document as "San-Sanah" Robertson and she signs with an X following the name Sansanah. 2.. Another land sale to Herod is dated 3/19/1821.This sells a parcel of land in lot 189 to Herod, containing 75 acres more or less. Again marked with an 'X'" following Sansanah. 3.. In the 1920 census of Putnam County, Herod Bridges, Wiley Robertson and "Sansinah" Robertson are listed in sequence, as neighbors in the Tomlinson District. 4.. Several World Tree pages list one of the daughters of Sarah and George W. Wren as being "Martha Sansana Reeves Wren". 5.. I acknowledge that the letter written by Sarah's grandson mentions Susannah but it also mentions the daughter "Sansana",. Where did that come from? If any of you have thoughts or evidence about this please let me know. Thank you. Take care and best wishes. Bruce Bridges 1..
Looking for any information on James Bridges, Excise Man, who was living in Caithness, Scotland in 1838 when son Frederick migrated to Australia. He was married to Mary Gow. Have no further information on either James or Mary - cannot find him in Excise Records at the PRO (by researcher) or Scottish Excise Records. Does not appear in Caithness census of 1841 or Perthshire 1841 census. Son Fred married in Tenterden, Kent, cannot find him in Kent 1841 census. Son's ships record says father was living in 1838, I suppose could have died before 1841, but does not appear in the OPR's for Scotland and because I have no idea of his whereabouts any James Bridges on the Civil Reg. of England and Wales would be a pure guess. Can anyone assist? Thank you. Glenys -- Glenys Rasmussen http://www.quietAcre.com "My home lies wide a thousand miles, In the Never-Never Land." (Henry Lawson)

Hey Graham, Don't mean to get into the middle of a conversation, but the Stewart County Vol 2 is sitting right in front of me. I would be glad to do lookups for anyone interested. Melanie, Did you ever hear of a Reed County, GA? My ancestor was 92 when she gave that information as being her birthplace, but I have been unable to find it. Maybe she meant TWIG--there is a connection, however far-fetched. Mildred PS Hello Graham--how is the hill country these days?
Melanie At the time I got your note about the Stewart County Georgia History Book I was not aware of the connection with Graham Forrest Bridges and the others that you mentioned. I knew that there was a Shelton in my line but not some of the others. Since the advent of DNA groups I have found that I am connected with the line that you mention. However, I am not sure how. The Shelton that you mention is even more intriguing since James M. Bridges had a son by that name. Previously, I thought that the names might be a coincidence. Now I am not so sure but would like to know more about your Shelton Sorrell Bridges. When was he born and did he have a relative named Shelton that you are aware of. Also, Do you have a male Bridges family member that has joined the DNA group? I would like to hear from you if you are still interested. Sorry, that I did not persue further at the time. Greetings to Bill Bridges. Bill I am especially interested in information and records having to do with Thomas Bridges. A certain Thomas Bridges, Revolutionary soldier, married to Susannah Huckaby was my 3rd great grandfather. I believe he came from Franklin CO., NC to Ogelethorpe CO., GA abt 1795. His family settled in Green CO., GA abt 1800 and descendants went to TX abt 1850. Do you have a DATE and LOCATION connected with the "Will" shown here? Do you have any notions that your Thomas is related to my Thomas? Thanks for your comments.
