Thank you for your response. I am sorry to say, I put on the post, the entire amount of Bridges that I have. This is as far as I have been able to get. I will add your data to my list, and hopefully I will be able to expand in your direction. Thank you. Hi Kathy, I have a few unknown BRIDGES. My Thomas b.1816 TN had a sister Soleta. He also had a brother named James. James married Ann ? and had children Absolum, Joseph, James, Louisa , John C. and Silas. All born between 1831-1840. Maybe James or another brother had a daughter Soleta that is yours. I will do some more looking in my mile high stack of papers and see what I can come up with.It has been awhile since I have looked at this line. To the best of my knowledge they went NC > TN > MO. I haven;t run across any GA. Looks like maybe we should compare notes ! : ) Linda
Can anyone tell me who James M. Bridges is and where he is from. I'm trying to find my GGG Grandmothers family . Her name was Saleta Ann Bridges b.1828 d. unknown. She married Gabriel W. Grimes in Oglethorpe County GA 1848 but had been previously married to Fleming J. Mathews. So in the documents of the marriage she was listed as Saleta Ann Mathews. I don't know where they came from or where they went, if anywhere. Can't find where she was buried. Must be unmarked or out of state. I'll be glad to share if I ever get anywhere with this. Laugh Kathy Stewart
I have BRIDGES, JAMES M.(1839-1923) in Terrell county, GA. He married Katherine Stewart. Their daughter Sarah Elizabeth m Alfred Edward Kersey (My ggrandparents) James Bridges brothers and sisters: Jasper John Thomas Preston William Russell Mary Betty maybe Elizabeth Cindy My brick wall is James Bridges's parents. Maybe this will help. Calvin. cnesbit77@aol.com
This is so strange, I have had the same experience. I made contact with Patricia Hogg, in LaGrange, GA. We conferred on the phone, and decided we had the same g-grandmother, as well as the same picture of her. Patricia is descended from Catherine Bridges, and John Sumner's daughter, called "Molly". Patricia said John died during the Civil War, of a leg wound. Catherine then married Raney S. Slaughter, who had lost his wife, Nancy L Credille, after moving from Greensboro, GA to TX. Raney then moved to Clay County, AL, where he married Catherine Bridges, Sumners. Raney had quite a large family, with his first wife. Catherine and Raney had three more children, one of which is my grandfather. Patricia is not interested in any lineage of Catherine, her g-grandmother, except from the first marriage with John, which only produced this one daughter. I have the same amount of Catherine's blood, as has Patricia, yet she has no interest in the rest of the family. The prospect of meeting Molly's descendants, is exciting to me, ......... why not to her? Is there something I am missing here? If there is anyone from this lineage who would like to compare and exchange information, please make yourself known. I would love to hear from you. Hi Charlotte! I wish that I could help you with your Dalton, GA BRIDGES.... My line migrated to St. Clair Co. AL. Are you having difficulty in getting other BRIDGES in GA to share information on your line? When I lived in Buford, GA two years ago, I tried to track my line (since I lived in the same Co. they were born in!!) and no one would share information. It was like they were a bunch of the proverbial "Horse Thieves"! : ) Happy Hunting! Julie Anne
