Hi DHB That happens to me. Spammers hijack [there is another name for it but I don't remember what it is] your addy and use it to spread spam. Either that or your addy is in someone's address book and the contents of the address book were copied. Just one of those things we all have to put up with and there is nothing we can do about it [to my knowledge I could be wrong] I have gotten email from people who have told me that I have sent them a virus and I have no idea who they are! And if I were sending a virus someone would tell me right? Anyway... Cathy Bridges
I received a message that stated I had tried to send a message that contained a virus. I checked, and my CP was not on any where near that time.(5pm eastern 4 July) I have checked with my updated virus protection program and on line "house call" and I am free of any Virus. I suspect that some one has my name in their address book and that's where its coming from ? Do you know someone with an address of dback@lcii.com that is where the message was going to.. I do not have this in my address book, or any where in my system but think I have seen it in someone's email as a recipient.? Here is a free on line virus test from Trend Micro It takes awhile to run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ DHB
For those of you who are descended from Charles Bridges, the artist from London, who lived in Virginia before the Revolutionary War. This is his biography from the archives of askart.com Charles Bridges was the earliest recorded professional artist in Virginia. Bridges was working in the studio of Sir Godfrey Kneller in London when Colonel William Byrd of Virginia discovered him. It may have been Byrd who persuaded Bridges to come to Virginia in 1735. Byrd's family of Westover plantation and other members of plantation families along the James River became the subject of Bridges's best known work. When Bridges came to Virginia, he had the intentions of gaining portrait commissions and of founding several charity schools for the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. Bridges was an exceptionally sophisticated painter for his day, undoubtedly because of his training with Kneller, a leading portrait painter of the time. Bridges's style is typical of his work of Maria Taylor Byrd (c. 1735, MMA), depicting a slim, elegant young woman, dressed in a simple gown that clings softly to her body. Bridges is also known for posing his subjects in romantic outdoor settings. Many of the paintings discovered from the colonial time period have been attributed, in the past, to Bridges because little was known about Virginia artists of the colonial period and also because Bridges did not sign many of his works. However studies since have uncovered other painters, such as William Derring, although these artists were not as well trained or as sophisticated as Bridges. Bridges was active in America from 1735 to 1740, but little is known of his life or work after he returned to London about 1743. Credits: Matthew Baigell. Dear Sue-Not to confuse things too much, I have a great-uncle namedJames Wesley Bridges, who was born in VA in 1876. His father was Murdock Bridges who was born in NC. Murdock's father was Stephen Amos. It is interesting how these names were used so often, which suggests that these families are connected---Wes.
Johnny, I haven't forgotten you. I was bit by a dog about 3 weeks ago and am still recovering. It is hard to type. Give me a few more days and I'll send what I know about my Bridges and Rusts. Billie
Dear Adrianne, these people are related to my BRIDGES in some way but without verifying down the line thoroughly I don't feel qualified to say how for sure. Julia, I just mailed my 37 count dna plus sample #22559, and wanted to submit my GED-COM, but did not know what, how, or where to send it. I use FTW. My known line starts with James in NC and ends in Texas. They got there by way of TN, KY, and Arkansas. Please inform! Hello all, We have updated the BRIDGER / BRIDGES / BRIDGERS / BRIGGS / BRIDGE, etc. DNA Project Results page to reflect the latest markers that have come in from the lab. We are still awaiting several and they will be posted as soon as they arrive. I am happy to announce that, I believe, that we have found a male descendant of Col. Joseph Bridger of Isle of Wight Co., VA and his DNA has been entered into our DNA Project. His line was still living in Isle of Wight, VA in the 1850 Census, so it was fairly easy to check out the line from there. I am still working with the participant to be sure that each generation is documented, but I feel, pretty certain, that he is a genuine descendant. It will be several weeks before his results come in. If you think that you are descended from that line and haven't joined our DNA Project, now it the time to submit your male line DNA to prove that connection. As you may know it takes from 5 to 10 weeks (or longer) to get the results from the DNA sample, so we encourage anyone who is considering the testing to do it ASAP. The waiting is the hard part. This project has been, informative, rewarding and fun. I believe that, eventually, you will all have a DNA match that will greatly advance your Genealogy research. If you know of lines that you suspect may be related to yours, try to find a researcher from that line to submit a DNA sample from a male who carries the Bridges, etc., name. With every new participant, there is a chance for a match. We would love to have the DNA of all the major Bridges, etc., lines represented in our DNA Project. That would make the Project more appealing to future participants. If you know of lines in Europe, please, encourage them to join us, as we, here in America, are ready to link to the Old Country. Hey Billie, I suspect we might be cousins in more ways than one. My great-grandparents were James Andrew Rust and Martha L. Bridges. They were born in Carroll County, Tennessee. I'm at work right now and don't have my genealogy bags with me so I can't give you the dates off the top of my head. I bet they are related some which of way. I mean Bridges and Rust together. Let me know where your Bridges and Rust were from and tomorrow I will get my bags out and try get the dates and places to you. My Martha's parents were W. A. C. Bridges and Louisa Eveline Cunningham. They too were from Carroll County, Tennessee. The county seat for Carroll County is Huntingdon, TN. Many of the Bridges and Rust family lines are from around that area. My W. A. C. Bridges brother was Jason (Jacint) A. Bridges and he headed out to Texas. Maybe they went together, that is with your Bridges. Well I'm wandering without my papers in front of me. I'll get them together tomorrow. Hope to hear from you soon. I have a RUST, CHURCHWELL, VICKERS, SHACKLEFORD, CUNNINGHAM site on MyFamily.com. Maybe you would like to join us. Let me know. I need information on William Henry Bridges, born TN 1811. He and family moved to Arkansas around mid-1800s. His wife was Nancy Rust. One of their twin daughters was my great-grandmother, Sarah Bridges, born TX 1846. Billie Sutton Jefferies
The John Bridges I am interested in is 66 years of age , Thank you Sue
Hey Charles, I don't believe I am related to these NW GA Bridges, however, my wife has family buried in Sugar Valley (Gordon County). There are several Bridges buried there, some early1800's. I have been curious as to where they came from, are they the same family as yours? Good Morning Everyone, Sorry for the last message. I am having some email problems today. Recently I purchased a page out of the 1876 book "A Sectional Map of Carroll County". It lists not only my HUSDON's in Carroll County, MO, but also a BRIDGES (who, BTW, is not known to be of my line). Here is the entry: Place: Moss Creek Township, No. 52. Range 24. Name: John S. BRIDGES Post Office: Carrollton [Missouri] Residence: Section 25 Business: Farmer Nativity: Allen County, KY When Came to Carroll County: 1859 My BRIDGES line did not come to Carroll County, MO until the 1940's. And, was from Robertson County, TN. Hope this helps someone here. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler Carrollton, MO & Glendale, AZ
