    1. DNA of Col. Joseph BRIDGER is in !
    2. Hello all, I can't remember how long it has been since I reported on the DNA project, but the results come in sporadically, and everytime I think I have them all posted to our DNA Project, a new one comes in. Also, you may have noticed that the website was down for a few days as the serve had been under attack. I am happy to announce that we have the DNA results of a participant who seems to be descended from Col. Joseph Bridger of Isle of Wight, VA. I have checked his line as well as I can without seeing all his documents and all seems to be in order. I must say that of all my 10 family DNA Projects, this one has been to most puzzling. I knew many of you for years before we began this testing and was familiar with your Bridges lines and would have bet that we were all related as we have so many collateral lines in common, and would have bet that we were all descended from Col, Joseph for the same reason. Most of our lines continued to marry into Isle of Wight, VA families even after the were long gone from VA. It is my belief that adoptions occurred in the BRIDGER family and that is why our DNA doesn't match each other. I have seen many mentions of male called "Alias Bridger" but can't remember at this moment who they were. It is possible that they were not true Bridgers. It is, also, a fact that Col. Joseph disowned his son, Joseph, and it is possible that Joseph wasn't his son. Also, I have read somewhere that the William Bridger who moved to NC about 1720 and there the name changed to Bridgers was left out of his father's will. I am not sure this is true, but it makes me wonder if William may have not been his father's son. We need to test as many Bridger, Bridgers & Bridges lines as possible to try to solve this puzzle. That includes as many as possible who stayed in VA and all those, especially, who went to or through NC. You may see the results at: http://small-stuff.com/BRIDGES Click on "DNA Test Results" and if you have been there lately, remember to "Reload" the page. Julia French Wood DNA Project Adm.

    1. Re: [BRIDGES-L] Joe Bridges whereabouts?
    2. Hello Scott, And welcome to the Bridges discussion list. I see that you have, already, searched out archives which is the perfect way to begin this phase of your genealogy research. I am sorry to say, however, that I don't recall hearing from Joe in a long while. I want to bring to your attention, our latest form of research, which is our Y-DNA project. We have learned a lot for our research by testing a male from each Bridges line that we can find. We would love to have you join the testing. You may read all about it and see the results by clicking on "DNA Test Results". All the matching persons are listed with the same color. We have more results that will be in soon to add to the Project results page, one of which is the DNA of Col. Joseph Bridger of Isle of Wight, VA. Julia French Wood List Adm. Y-DNA Project Adm.

    1. Joe Bridges whereabouts?
    2. Bridges, Scott
    3. Does anyone know if Joe Bridges of FL is still around? I have read many of his posts in the archives over the past several yrs. He has previously posted as BridgesRascal@aol.com and jbridges1@cwix.com. Both of these seem to be no longer active. I would like to get in touch with him regarding his research of the family in Cambria County and Bedford County PA.. 3. Hi Scott--My Bridges family was from SW VA, which is not far from where you're from. My great-grandfather was Murdock Bridges, who had a number of children. His father was Amos. If you're related to these guys, I have quite a bit of info on their descendents--Wes. -----Original Message----- From: Bridges, Scott [mailto:ScottBridges@sc.slr.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 13, 2004 9:50 AM To: BRIDGES-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BRIDGES-L] New subscriber Hi. 3. Go to www.download.com and then in the search box put spybot and download spybot search and destroy. If you run this program each time after being on the internet it will destroy the spys. Otherwise you will have them. I checked, and my CP was not on any where near that time.(5pm eastern 4 July) I have checked with my updated virus protection program and on line "house call" and I am free of any Virus. I suspect that some one has my name in their address book and that's where its coming from ? Do you know someone with an address of dback@lcii.com that is where the message was going to.. 2. About the virus that can attack your address book----- I was told in a computer class, that everyone with a computer that goes online should add this to their address book: AAAAAAAA@AAA.AAA as it would be the first address in your address book and an email virus would bounce it back to the sender as unknown and prevent the virus from spreading to other addresses in your address book. I did this along with having my anti-virus program updated regularly and it seems to help. For what it is worth. Lori
