Hello all, Well, the results are in for the result for which we were waiting and the plot thickens. This result is for a descendant of William Bridger who moved from Isle of Wight, VA in the early 1700s and died in Bertie Co., NC in 1730. There is no doubt that he was from Isle of Wight, because that fact is stated in the deed book on his early land transactions. The problem is that his DNA matches the Aqua group and not the Green group who claims to be descended from the Bridger family of Isle of Wight. In looking closely at the research that was given to me, I find that the family of the William Bridger in the Green group was in Chesterfield, VA, not Isle of Wight, and my requests for proof of each generation that could lead to Isle of Wight have not been answered. I see many discrepancies in the family tree that was provided to me. Therefore, since I don't have a crystal ball, there is no way that I can know which of these two if either of them are descended from Col. Joseph Bridger of Isle of Wight. It is, also, possible that they both could be according to paper research, but that an adoption occurred somewhere in the lines. This could true of all Bridger researchers and all the groups in our DNA project. I have changed the earliest ancestor of the Green group to the William of Chesterfield, VA as I feel somewhat confident that the research is correct to that point and have listed the new result in the Aqua group as the earliest ancestor, William Bridgers, who went to NC. Both of these are subject to change as more generations are proven to me with documentation. If anyone has documents for these line or can offer any suggestions or help, please, let me know. Hello All, This list has been very quiet. We have a couple of new results in our DNA Project and have been waiting for one that is a descendant of Col. Joseph Bridger but it is running several weeks late. That group has a new match. I will let you all know as soon as the new result is in and posted. Those who do not have a DNA match need to think about recruiting participants from lines that they think may connect with their's. Search on the Genforum.com and Rootsweb.com message boards for others researching the lines of interest and talk to them about testing for our Project. Hope all is well with everyone. small-stuff.com/BRIDGES Julia

Sure, I would be glad to share what information I have about the Bridges family. I can not verify all the information I have , Some I know is accurate and some came from other people. Here is my line: Francis Bridges Jesse Bridges Granville Bridges Joseph Bridges Archie Bridges David Bridges, I have not been able to find any brothers or sisters for Francis. and have been told his father was William from England. I have always thought that Willis Bridges was a close relative. I will be glad to share anything I have regards, David Bridges dbridges@toast.net

Today I spent some time with a copy of the book "Kentucky Pioneers and Their Descendants". Here are some of the things that I found: Polly BRIGES married James ANDERSON on 27 Dec 1813 in Caldwell Co, KY Barbara BRIGGS married Samuel KINCADE on 30 Mch 1830 in Missouri thereby becoming his 1st wife. She was either dead or divorced by 18 Jan 1842 (when he re-married). Ebenezer BRIGGS married Phoebe GILKEY Elizabeth L. BRIGGS was b 18 Nov 1805. She was the dau of Phoebe and Ebeneger BRIGGS. Fanny BRIGGS married Francis L. TRAVIS on 20 Nov 1847. Jennie Bridges BROMLEY died 1843. Hope these are of some help to you! Leslie ---- Remembering Sept. 11th
Good evening to you all, Just wanted to let you know that a friend of mine has been working on putting a huge amount of biographies online and has just put up two having to do with Bridges. These Bridges came from North Carolina through Tennessee and into Illinois so I thought I would pass the website along so you all could check it out. http://franklincoil.topcities.com/index-bios.html Enjoy them and hopefully someone will get some new information or the breakthrough that they need. For those who see other names that you are interested in, bookmark the page, she is typing as fast as she can. Paula
Thanks for sharing the info. Even those these do not seem to be of my family, the reading was interesting. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler
Hi, Dawnene. I cannot answer your question for sure. All I do know is that a lot of the descendants of "my" John lived in Robertson Co, TN and in Logan Co, KY. And, although I have always loved family names, I too wish that these people had used some different names. But then, people get really confused with the fact that one of my grandfathers was Leslie Combs .... which was also my mother's name.... and is also what we named one of our daughters! So, who am I to fuss. <G> Leslie --Original Message-- Hi Leslie: is that who this is? I thought that this was a different John, as your John was in NC????? Did this John live in TN after his marriage, or live in Crittenden County? (Crittenden County was actually part of Livingston County until 1840, so they should be in Livingston County records.) Are he and Dicy buried in TN? I sure wish they'd all named their kids something besides John and Wm. Wm was b in NC, but migrated to R.C., TN and died there. I have never proven just who this John BRIDGE(R)S' wife was, as I've never seen his will. I did find out that he died bef 5 Feb 1816. My direct BRIDGES line stayed in R.C., TN until after WWII. (My father was even born there.) Many of John's descendants stayed in RC. And, I still have BRIDGES cousins there. Did they have children; where are they buried, etc. Thanks, Dawnene
Interesting material. Not my Bridges, but I enjoyed reading about them. Thanks for sharing. Mildred
