    3. Hi again Robert, I have nothing whatsoever to help you sort out the material you've found about NC / KY connections. In fact I've done zero Kentucky research, but I can tell you something about the wife of Nathaniel who died in 1809 in Oglethorpe Co.,GA. After looking at many different records, the marriage bond was the only record where her name was spelled as Writter. All other times, in original records, it 's spelled Ritter , including the old church records in Oglethorpe and in Nathaniel's will. So that's why I chose to use the spelling Ritter, just so you know it's not an arbitrary decision on my part. With so many people working on these different Bridges lines, I bet we'll have some real breakthroughs some time real soon. I hope, I hope! I sure enjoy reading about everyone else's lines, even if I don't know anything about it. I wonder how many KY Bridges lines are on this list?? Anne P.S. I'd seen that marriage of Rita Jones to Nathaniel Bridges. With all the Jones' in my line, it makes you wonder! 3. I have a Clary Ann Bridges that married a "Stroudy Bob" Robert Garrett in Fannin Co. GA.(Stroud was his mother's maiden name) Robert Garrett's parents were born in Burke Co. NC... Married.... moved to Missouri....moved back to Georgia to be near siblings and cousins. Others left from that area to go west also. Try looking in Rutherford and Burke Co. NC , it is possible that they came through on there way to Illinois. It seems to be part of an old migration route to the West and South. Rivers flow in both directions down the mountains in that area. . ----- Original Message ----- From: "dawnene young" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 31, 2001 1:14 PM Subject: [BRIDGES-L] Jackson Bridges-Jensey Garrett > Does anyone have info on this couple? > Jackson Bridges married Jensey Lucretia Garrett on 6 March 1833 in Gallatin > County, Illinois. > > Thanks. > Dawnene Young > P.S. 2. Jeanne: Robert Bridges here, the person trying to verify my Bridges line. David S Bridges was my gggrandfather and Berry J Bridges my ggggrandfather. I Have found and believe there are two different Berry Bridges we are talking about. The first is Berry T. Bridges born to David Bridges from NC. The Berry J Bridges I am concerned with is from NC and had a son named David S Bridges. David and Berrry J Bridges were not brothers but may have been cousins. Interesting too is that their was two Nathanial Bridges from NC. One was Berry J Bridges brother from WAYNE County NC. One Nathanial Bridges was married to Writter Simms (as spelled in the book Gone to Georgia). The other Nathanial Bridges was married to a Rita Jones. I do not know yet which of these twoo were my Berry J Brother. Incidently, one of David Bridges sons, Merrill, married a Pascience Grunolds (marriage records of GA) and had a daughter named Malinda. Malinda married my gggrandfather David S Bridges in Caldwell Co KY Oct 28, 1828. Apparently Merrill was deceased because Pascience attested to her daughter being of age.

    3. For those researching the various Berry J. Bridges: Here's a bunch of stuff on the Berry J. Bridges who was the son of David Bridges in Oglethorpe Co, GA. Below are his & his wife's wills, and after that, their marriage, deeds and census records. Put together, it looks like this is all the same Berry J., son of David. Hopefully this will be helpful... and should eliminate this particular Berry J. Bridges as an ancestor, since this one apparently did not have any kids. ~Jeanne ______________________ Will of Berry J. Bridges Madison County, GA Will Book A-B, Page 41 12 Feb 1847 Georgia: I, Berry J. 2. The name Crawford in my family started with my gggrandfather William Croford Bridges b. l8l5 in Wilkes Co. Ga and continued in my family until the l900's. In the book I just wrote about is listed a biography of an Allen Jones and a Willie Jones. The name Jones did not continue with my own family but I find some of the Greene Co. Ill Bridges men with a middle name of Jones in l830's and later. Interesting, huh? Wanda

    3. Hi, I have a Orlando Shelton m/ Dolly Bridges (no documentation). Dolly went insane and died in Milliageville, GA. A cousin of mine said that his father and uncle( her nephews) couldn't afford to bring her body back for burial (probably during the depression). My grandmother and some cousins thought she had about 3 children. I haven't yet found any information, but she came home once, but was sent back. I think Orlando either left North Georgia with the children or they were all killed. In other words, your Orlando might not be the same. It is possible that he is one of their nephews. Dolly would have had between 10-13 brothers and sisters. I only have information on a few of them. If this story sounds familiar let me know; we may be able to help each other. 3. I think you are right, one of them is definitely the original -- the one you found with the estate papers, and the other is a copy of the original. There aren't any major differences, just things like the copy says, Patsy B. Bridges and the original says, Patsy Bennett Bridges. Like the copiest got tired, and abbreviated things.... Guess I would've been tired of writing (by hand) too. I saw an entry in a deed book of Wake Co. records that had Nathaniel Jones Bridges in it, but when I looked at it closer, I realized that there was a big line through the Jones (apparently a mistake) . If I remember correctly there actually was a Nathaniel JONES in Wake Co. in the same time period. And an *Albridgton* JONES of all things. In his will, Nathaniel makes a mark that looks more like an *R* than an *X* . Does that mean anything? I don't know. 3. Actually, I don't have any specific information on which Jones or Crawford families might or might not be connected. But it is curious that in Wanda's line there is a Bridges with a middle name of Crawford (or Crofford) and two of Nathaniel Bridges children had the middle name of Crawford, while two of his children had the middle name of Jones. Why? I don't know, but isn't it curious? Also I think Jeanne Arguelles mentioned that James Bridges of Oglethorpe had a connection to the family of Rawleigh Crawford..? Here is a family group as I know it for Nathaniel Bridges (d. 1809 Oglethorpe Co.,GA) Nathaniel BRIDGES b. ca 1755 md. 17 Nov 1778 Wake Co.,NC d. 1809 Oglethorpe Co.,GA spouse: Ritter SIMMS =========================================== children: 1.
