Good Morning Bridges Researchers - I have been intending to share the following post with you since we have several times discussed the BRIGGS / BRIDGES connection. My William BRIDGES (b 1836, Robertson County, TN) had a sister called L. J. in the 1860 census and called L. Jeraldine in the 1850 one. They also had a sister named Mary and a brother named John. I'd like to know what the L. stood for. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler [email protected] and [email protected] P.O. Box 8137, Glendale, AZ 85312-8137 -and- P.O. Box 276, Carrollton, MO 64633-0276
John BRIDGES (b ca 1834) *William BRIDGES (b 1836) L. Jeraldine BRIDGES (b ca 1839) Mary BRIDGES (b ca 1842) These were the children of Amanda & William BRIDGES according to census information for 1850 & 1860 Robertson County, TN. I am currently pursuing the idea that William, Sr (who was b NC) moved to KY with his grandmother, Mary DICKINSON BRIDGES WILLIAMS, at some time after his father, John BRIDGES, and his grandfather, Edwin BRIDGES, died. It is beginning to look as though Wm Sr's son, John, was b in KY. And, I have proof that that Mary DICKINSON BRIDGES WILLIAMS is buried in Logan Co, KY with her 2nd husband, Jessie WILLIAMS. Apparently, Wm Sr's father, John BRIDGES, d when Wm was still a child. I've not found who Wm Sr's mother was, but she may have also d young. You see, the father, John, was b bef 2 Feb 1783 (when his father's will was proved) and died bef 5 Feb 1816 (when his own will was proved). Well, Wm Sr was not b until 1805, so that would make him 11 or younger when his father died. Now, maybe Wm Sr's mother (John's wife) went to KY with Mary, taking Wm Sr along with them, after the father, John, died. Does anyone here have any information that seems to fit into this picture? If you do, please share it with us. I will show a direct lineage chart below in case I have not managed to make this information clear. Edwin BRIDGE[R]S (d bef 2 Feb 1783 in Northampton Co, NC) + Mary DICKINSON (1752-1818) who later m/Jessie WILLIAMS John BRIDGES (b bef 2 Feb 1783 & d bef 5 Feb 1816) + UNKNOWN Wm BRIDGES, Sr (b 1805 NC & d 23 Oct 1867 Robertson Co, TN) + Amanda Maria Louisa MANTLO (1804-1866) Wm BRIDGES, Jr (1836-1869) (b & d Robertson Co, TN) +Mary Amelia FORT (1846-1875) who later m/James BELL [Note: Wm BRIDGES, Jr & Mary FORT were my GGgrandparents.] Leslie (Bridges) Kohler [email protected] and [email protected] P.O. New information (for me anyway): Wm Clayton BRIDGES [Sr] (ca 1805 - 1867 TN) & his wife, Amanda MANTLO (1804-1866) had at least 4 children. It would seem that this couple moved to Robertson Co, TN from KY ca 1835, but I don't have proof of that. The 4 children were: 1- John (maybe middle initial R) who was b ca 1834 (maybe in KY) *2- Wm Clayton [Jr] who was b 20 Nov 1836 Robertson Co, TN 3- L. Jeraldine who was b 1839/40 (probably in Robertson Co, TN) 4- Mary who was b 1842/43 (prob in Robertson Co, TN) If you know of any errors here, please let me know. I am always searching for more & am willing to share. I am also always looking for more of their descendants. Please contact me. Leslie (Bridges) Kohler P.O. Box 8137, Glendale, AZ 85312-8137 P.O. Bridges are in Smithland, in Livingston County, KY, in 1840 -- living in the same household with John Garrett. Does anyone know of Bridges-Garrett connections? Thanks Dawnene Young
Does anyone have a Richard Bridges in Armstrong county Pa around 1830? Thanks, Susie
I'm still searching for information on the twin daughters of William H. Bridges, Sarah and Elsie Catherine. They were born 1846 in TN and moved to AR. I'm almost certain Sarah married Silas Teague (son of Moses Teague and Mary Ann Reed). I need documentation of their (Silas' and Sarah's) marriage. Surely someone knows. I find mention of the twins, but no specifics. Billie Jefferies [email protected]
