I would love to have copies of this Bridges information. I am looking for the family of a Guilford Bridges who was born in NC in 1809, but have been unable to find anything on his parents. He moved to Lawrence Co Missouri and was on the 1850 census listing all his children with a wife of less than a year named Luranna or Loraina, the writing on the census is unclear. I have all his children if anyone has any clues as to who his family is, and one is a Thomas Henry Bridges which is my ggrandfather. HI Wanda, I had asked for a copy also, then there was all that talk about sending it to someone to get it scanned. Whats happening? Are we getting a hard copy or a scanned copy via email? IAm I on a list for a copy? I have heard others say they had already gotten a copy. So thought I'd better ask. I still think you should be reinbursed for your time and trouble. Wanda, I would love to have a copy of the Bridges papers. I would be glad to pay you for them. Thank you. Judy Carver 180 Holly Drive Chesnee, S. C.
Dear list Does anyone know or have a list of the Bridges men that were in the Rev. War? I have the pension papers for George Benjamin Bridges and for my Allen Jones Bridges and I know there was a couple in the 7th and l5th divisions (I guess they are called). One by the name of William Bridges that I sure would like to find out more about. If Allen, James, Nathanial and (others?) all followed their father into battle, how come we haven't found out who "Daddy" was? Anyone have any ideas? Wanda

If you click on any of the sites at http://www.cyndislist.com/quaker.htm#Records you should find something about the Briggs, especially Quaker Hill, Oblong,Pawling,N.Y. the cemetary records there and such. I found 5 vBriggs there and 4 more in others. Also the marriage records of Henry Briggs and Michael both sons of Edward and Anna . These are records of Quakers of Dutchess Co., N.Y. There is another son of Abraham and Freelove Brigss that died in 4/17/1842 at 35 yrs and his sister Caroline d-8/20/1842 Anna Briggs dau. of Henry and Mary Chauce and Edward Briggs son of Henry/Eliz. dided 5/25/1844. all of Oblong(Dutchess Co.) if you can not find them let me know and I will send you the exact page that each appears on. There are some others that appear at removals . Try sites 3-`12 on this site and I am sure that you will find Briggs/Briges/Bridge. Judy [email protected] PS Let me know if any of this helps
> Thank you Wanda, I just rec'd. my copy. Thank you so much. Doris
Have just received my copy of the Mills Bridges document from Wanda. It shows a lot of research in the various records. Having formerly lived in Virginia I also pursued many of these records and found some additional ones. Based on this I think that the father of the 6 boys who went to North Carolina is more likely to have been the William Bridges whose will was presented in 1724 in King George Co. by his wife Ann. The origin of this William is not known and he may have been new to the area. What is clear is that the William Bridges who was the son of the William Bridges who wrote a will 1743 in Prince William County VA. is the same person who appears not long after his fathers death in the records of Westmoreland County where in 1745 William Bridges the son of Wlliam Bridges deceased asks to be bound to Joseph Butler until he was 21. This William Bridges continues to appear in Westmoreland records through the 1750's and is probably the same man who married Amy Bayne, daughter of Matthew. (Matthew Bain/Bean/Bayne bought his first Westmoreland Co land from the William Bridges d. 1743). William and Amy later lived in Stafford County, VA and Spottsylvania Co. VA. where William died. Since Mills Bridges article shows that the William who was related to the other 5 brothers was in North Carolina in the middle 1760's and remained there he could not be the William who was the son of William Bridges 1743 Prince William. Of the other clues concerning early Bridges families in VA. Anthony Bridges of Westmoreland is proven by the records to have left no recognized descendants. The William Bridges who is mentioned getting a land grant with wife Elizabeth in 1690 died by 1706 and the records mention only William and Mary as his children. The William who is mentioned inherited all his land and sold it off between 1720-1740 -he is the same William whose will was written in 1743 in Prince William. Among the problems in sorting our the various Bridges is the movement of boundaries among Westmoreland, Richmond, King George and Stafford during this time period and the loss of many of their records. These counties are close together and you did not have to go far to move from one to the other.
Click here: Cyndi's List - Quaker Doris this is the site for Dutchess Co., N.Y. You should be able to go to other sites from there. there are several BRIGGS listed in the cemetaries and meetings with even their ages and parents names. The family of EDWARD/HANNAH BRIGGS and there children and grandchildren are listed . This goes from mid 1700s-1850s. Hope that it helps someone. LESLIE, sorry that I offended you!
