Wanda, Welcome to the confusion ( or at least mine). I Have a gggGrandfather, Isaac Bridges, born 1801 in NC. His first born was William, second born was Calvin Jones. I have had a "gut" feeling that Allen Jones Bridges is tied in here some how (Oglethorpe Co. GA.) Any ideas? I received mine, also, and heartily agree that Mildred and Thomas are providing a great, and generous service. I know that some of us, including myself, are just too busy lately to give, and am so glad that we have these two, and so many of you to help out. This is a great list, and, obviously, a closely related group. Even though we can't prove it.<g> Thanks, so much. Julia
Received mine in great shape. Will send stamp money this weekend, even though you said no! What a perfect example of generosity you have given this list! Mildred Venitucci
I too have BRIDGES in the Dallas area. Bailey Watson Bridges bn. 1871 in GA. married Myrtle Elizabeth Blaffer in 1905. They had 2 sons , though he was suppose to have been married before and had a daughter that was sent to live with her mothers family when she was a teen so she must have been born abt. 1890s. They lived in Dallas from 1900-1940s. Could they be related? [email protected]
Karyl and All.....I am interested in this line as well....Have no idea if it is related to my Joel C. BRIDGES and his wife Lucy ESKEW....BUT Lucy's mother's last name was GUILL.....Sometimes the names were spelled wrong as we all know. Lucy's parents appear (until I have actual certificate proof, I will say "appear") to have been: Alexander ESKEW and Rhoda (known as Rhody) GUILL.... Hi Anne...Looked for the digest for Bridges list and couldn't find it quickly...(does anyone have a link....or do you have to join to get it (I want to see about the Rev War connections in the past digests) Anyhow, found this link that someone might find useful....VERY early Bridges family names in this collection... http://webtext.library.yale.edu/beinflat/osborn/bshelf.HTM YALE UNIVERSITY BEINECKE RARE BOOK AND MANUSCRIPT LIBRARY JAMES MARSHALL AND MARIE-LOUISE OSBORN COLLECTION Osborn Shelves b -----Original Message----- From: Anne S. War soldiers Wanda, a long time ago, I posted a list of Bridges men who'd received a pension for Rev. War service along with an abstract of their file. At the time I lived near a library that had the microfilm rolls of Rev. War pensions. However, it was just those that had pensions. I don't have a list of all the soldiers. I've often wondered the same thing myself. That list is still in the BRIDGES-L archives at Rootsweb, if anyone is interested. I wish I knew what kind of Rev. service Nathaniel gave and where he served. All we know is that he is listed in the land lotteries of GA right? And his widow received land as the widow of a Rev. soldier... Thanks again for all your trouble. My mailing address is: Donald Bridges, 7292 Diamond Circle, La Palma, CA 90623-1301 and e-mail address is: [email protected]
My Bridges line wound up in Texas in Mckinney, Denton and Frisco. Counties of Collin, Denton and Wise. I just checked (yesterday) census of Wise, Collin and Denton for the year of 1860. There was only two Bridges families I come up with. I am specifically looking for a David Seburn Bridges that left Kentucky somewhere around 1852 or later. One of his sons ( William Riley Bridges) went to Texas ,Wise County in the 1870's where His wife,, Martha Brodbent died giving birth to my Grandfather, Walter Lee Bridges. If you come across anything on this family during your research I would appreciate you passing the info on to me at [email protected]
Wanda I found the name of Joseph Bridges listed as a Rev war soilder.James Bridges (Rhode Island) was a 2nd Lt in the 11th Continetal Infantry Jan 1,thru Dec 31, 1776. Others were David Bridges,Ben Bridges, William Bridges anoither David Bridges and William Bridges in different districts,Thomas Bridges,Issac Bridges and two more Wm Bridges and one Benjamin Bridges all from North Carolina.
