Perris Bassett, son of Philo Bassett Perris (Pherris) Niles Bassett, son of Philo and Elizabeth Bassett, was born 1 May 1836 in Pittstown, New York. He died at home on 31 Mar 1910 in Rockford, Winnebago County, Illinois. He is buried in the Cedar Bluff Cemetery. He married (1) Lucy Morse, daughter of William and Louisa (Cushing) Morse, on 9 Apr 1863 in Illinois. She was born 11 Feb 1842 in New York. She died in Jul 1874. He married (2) Nancy Eugenia (Sears) Pierce, widow of James L. Pierce, on 2 Dec 1874 in Boone County, Illinois. James Pierce died 17 Feb 1874. Nancy Bassett died 30 Nov 1926 in Rockford, Illinois. Peris Bassett appears on the 1861 Militia Rolls for Boone Township. He served in Co. I, 37th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. He settled in Winnebago County, Illinois after the war.
