Have you found Ernest in census records? Find all certificates and info on him and any siblings he may have had (1900, 1910, 1920, 1930) and compare the info given for Moses in those censuses. Get a copy of the actual marriage record for Moses and see what clues are given. Then you'll be in a better position to note any discrepancies. Census records do depend on whomever gave the information, especially for anyone in a residence who is a boarder or lodger, and not related to the family.
