It seems very strange that the census would have that they were divorced if they weren't -- divorce was SO rare back then. They could have told the children/others that she died -- It would have been more acceptable back then. Either way, you'll have to look for records (death, probate, court, etc.) in the parishes she was in -- or that the family was in (Union parish and Caddo parish, Louisiana.) You might also have to look at the parishes in between the two, since the family traveled from Union to Caddo at least once. The parishes in between are: Bossier, Webster, and Claiborne.
