I have a World subscription and have also looked on any other site I can find, but keep coming up empty handed. I know he was born in Michigan abt 1913. On the 1930 census he was enlisted in the Navy (age 17) and stationed at a Naval base in VA. That census also listed his father as being from Austria and his mother from Pennsylvania. My grandmother, Evelyn Reynolds, was living around the Santa Monica and Venice areas of Los Angeles in the late 1930's so I know he shows up there sometime around that time. They may or may not have been legally married. She was listed as Mrs. Evelyn Yamrovich in a 1936 directory and as Mrs. Evelyn Yamrovich (wid of John) in 1938. Don't know why she said she was a widow in 1938 since my father, Charles, was born in 1939 and his brother James in 1940. Both were sons of John. I do remember my dad saying that his father wasn't around much when he was little, so I don't believe he was living with Evelyn since he was not listed in the directories. She later remarried and both boys took their stepdad's surname since they never really knew John. The only other Yamrovich's I have found are a family in Flint, MI. Stanley Yamrovich (who's name originally was Stanislaus Jamrowicz), his wife Josephine and their children; Anna Falkowski, Angeline Lesnak, Joseph, Alex, and Louis. It appears Joseph and Alex kept using the Jamrowicz spelling, while Louis used the Yamrovich spelling. I have a hunch that Louis may be John's father since Louis' middle name is John, but have been unable to find any documentation on him other than a draft record and SSDI stating he died in NJ. Josephine was living with Anna on the 1930 census, but that is the only time I've found any of this family on a census. They should have all been living in Flint for the 1910 census, but I've been unable to locate them. I would be eternally grateful if anyone could help me put a crack in my brick wall.
