The 1870 shows a William Stephens, age 22, and Eliza Stephens, age 18, in Beat 3 in Mobile Co., AL. The census was taken in July and there is a notation that they married in Feb of that year. That Eliza seems to be the only white Eliza of the probable age, although there is no way to know for sure. It's possible this is your couple, with your William Robert being born after the census. FamilySearch Record Search lists an Eliza Hodge m. William Stevens on 29 July 1872 in Chambers, AL. Dates don't entirely match but cannot definitively be ruled out, either.
