I am researching my gr-gr-grandfather, Bolin (Bolen) Greenberry BAUGH who was born in Kentucky according to his marriage application, filed in Owen County, IN when he wed Jenny (Jinny, Jennie) Edwards on 14 Jan. 1844. In each subsequent census, he gives Kentucky as his birthplace. 1850 US Census: Bolen G. Baugh, 26, and wife Jane (Jenny), 35, were farming in Adams Twnshp, Morgan Co, IN with children James 5, William 3, and Lydia 2, plus Lancus (Dorcus?) Baugh, 46, possibly Bolen's mother whose birthplace is listed as S. Carolina? 1860 US census: B.G. Baugh, 38, and wife Jennie, now 40, were farming in Jennings Twnshp, Owen Co, IN with children James A. 15, Lydia A. 12, Bernetta 11, Henrietta 8, Mary Elizabeth 4, and Dorcas Ellen 2. Lancus Baugh is gone. 1870 US census: Greenberry Baugh, 47, and Sena F. (Jennie) Baugh 51, are farming in Wayne Twnshp, Owen Co, IN with children James A. 25, Lydia Ann 21, Brunette (Bernetta) 19, Henrietta 16, Mary Elizabeth 14, Dorcas Ella 12, and Jefferson H. 8. (Lydia Ann is also enumerated in Montgomery Twnshp, where she is housekeeping for Thomas and Nancy Surber.) 1880 US Census: B. Green Baugh 55, and Jennie Baugh 64, are farming in Union Township, Warren Co, IA with daughter (Dorcas) Ellen 22. Green Baugh died on 22 Sept. 1881 in Indianola, Warren Co, IA at age of 59 yrs, 10 mo, which would put his birthdate as 1821, but 1880 census estimate puts it at 1824. Jennie Baugh died on 31 July 1902 at age of 92 yrs, 11 mo. in Indianola, IA. I am interested in finding Bolen Greenberry Baugh's actual birthplace, perhaps Pulaski County, KY, the names of his parents and siblings, and whether the Baugh family came from South Carolina. I appreciate any help in solving my mystery. Terri Malinowski
