My question is how did a Ruthenian/Ukrainian [Galicia, Austria] girl communicate with an English speaking man? Did she already know English? Most of the time our first ancestors tended to marry within same region, religion [few exceptions] but for sure one common language to communicate in and common tradition to observe. I think the surname is NYKYFORUK. I do not have a paid subscription to US or Canada's Ancestry.
