I have his marriage certificate and his death certificate but I cannot trace his birth nor can I find him in the 1901 census or the 1911 census. On his marriage certificate he gives his Fathers name as Gilbert Cope. My Grandads name was John Cope (known as Jack). He married Hannah Heathcote on 7th November 1914 in Christ Church, Heaton Norris, Lancashire. He died 21st December 1952 aged 60 in Gorton, Manchester, Lancashire.
