Try contacting the Forsyth County Library in Forsyth County, GA. There are lots of Fowler's there and Anderson, SC is just across the border from GA. I've always had good luck writing libraries for obituary copies when I know the exact death date. No one in any library will scan scads of newspapers for an obituary. You need the date, which you already have. Have you also tried "legacy.com" to confirm the information you have? ________________________________ From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sun, January 16, 2011 1:31:26 PM Subject: Re: [BRICK-WALLS] Fowler This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. (From the SSDI: Name: Joe Kenneth Fowler SSN: 249-56-1831 Last Residence: 29684 Starr, Anderson, South Carolina Born: 17 May 1938 Died: 20 Jul 2005 State (Year) SSN issued: South Carolina (1953) So you can either: 1) Pay for the death certificate 2) Pay to obtain a copy of his SS-5, the Social Security application, on which his parents should be listed. See here for how: http://search.ancestry.com/search/dbextra.aspx?dbid=3693 3) Investigate as to whether he had an obit, and see if a person, society or library will copy it for you.
