My great-grandfather also lied about his age, he was 15 when he said he was 19. Luckily we knew this and his name and origin were not so common that we could not have found him otherwise. Also, luckily we all know the story and i am putting together the family history know but who knows, in the future someone may have attempted to to find more about their ancestors and they may have run into my mom's birth certificate. They would have had no luck as her fathers first name is listed and her stepfathers last name listed.
