    1. Re: [BRICK-WALLS] Noriega - Spain to Mexico to Tucson, AZ - Advice Please
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/174.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Please be careful of making gross generalizations about origins based on skin color or "features". Not all Spaniards are light skinned, not all Indigenous people have high cheek bones, not all people from x look like x because they're from x. Is this clan Catholic? If so, you're best resource are church records. 1) Find the bap record for Antonio Noriega b 1897 2) Build his family, find his siblings's bap records (and marriage or any other). Note all the godparents listed. Godparents are typically extended family. The godparents of the eldest children are sometimes the grandparents. 3) Were Antonio's parents married in the US? What year? You might find the marriage record in the same place as the bap records. The parents will be listed, and perhaps more; ie witnesses tended to be extended family. Finding extended family, ie: siblings of both parents, Jesus and his wife, will help build a more complete picture and enable you to trace their movement into the US. All records are not on the internet, look in the library catalog on familysearch.org. Locate the nearest FHC near you and be prepared to spend some time researching. Chances are the church records are in Latin. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
