My great grandmother was born Yberra Onishi (or Ohnishi) and changed her name to Vera D. She was born in New York in 1902 and married William Church before she died in 1991. I can't find any information about her parents although I believe her dad (Akila) was born in Japan while her mom (Tama) was born in New Jersey.
