I also found a death certificate for Boyd's son Palmer. Parents are listed as Boyd Fry and Margaret Ellen Barr. I did some investigating into Margaret's mother Abbey. In the 1910 Census, she living next door to Boyd and Margaret. She is listed as widowed but she has 3 children living with her, 2 of which have the last name of Hyatt. Also in the 1900 Census, Abbey is living next to Boyd and Margaret but her husband and children all have the last name of Murphy. She states that she has been married for 7 years but her children are a lot older than 7 years old. ( her husband Charles Murphy was on the previous census page, which I have also attached. Also I have attached a death certificate of Boyd and Margaret's son, Palmer. Margaret lists her last name of Barr again. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Frye is accurate it would make more sense as well,my gg Floyd/Lloyd Frye's son used to siy around and say their family came from Germany a long time ago. And from what i can tell John P. Frye's line apparently goes back to a Johann Valentine Frey B. 1728 in Germany, maybe somehow this was passed down?Do you have any tips on what records i should try and look for to potentially prove this connection? The kids that i know of Crease's parents having were Elizabeth,Preston,Glenn,Jennie,Cous,Johnn,Kate, and Sam.But i bet this Margaret Ellen Hyatt is definitely somehow related,if not their daughter as well. His age matches up and Maude is quite a bit younger than Loyd. I wonder if Loyd ran off with another woman and left TN to go back to VA. They had two children together. Goldie Fry and Myrtle Fry. Perhaps he is buried back in VA the "home land". I couldn't find a Loyd Fry buried there but it is another theory to work through. Author: skvesta Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/411.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Okay, this is one big long story how I figured this out. Based on your info from the 1910 Census where you said Floyd was living with Crease, I looked on the previous page and there was a "Bud" Fry who was married to Ellen. What peaked my interest is that Bud said that his parents were born in Virginia, just like Floyd. Bud was born abt 1880 so I suspected that they were brothers. Turns out that Bud married Ella Hyatt, a sister to Crease perhaps? Bud and Ella/Ellen were married 18 Mar 1899 in Washington Co, TN. (familysearch.org) I kept following the brother theory that I had and found out that Bud's wife Margaret Ella Frye died in 1941 (familysearch.org) in Johnson city, washinton co, TN, she is married, husband is Boyd Frye. I then looked for Bud or (Boyd as he is sometimes called) and he died 1954 in Piney Flats, Sullivan TN. (familysearch.org) Parents are listed as John P. Frye and Sarah Hall. Place of Birth: Wythe Co., VA. He was 75 yrs old making him born abt 1880 (another census source lists his birth Mar 1879.) I then headed to the 1880 census where I found John Fry and Sarah Fry with a 3 month old baby boy named Boyd living in Wythe Co, Va. but no Floyd because he is born abt 1883. (familysearch.org) I then headed to the 1900 Census to find a John P. Frey and Sarah Frey (by this time Boyd is married) living in Washington CO, TN (where Boyd got married) with a Loyd W. Frey b. Sep 1882 Virginia. (familysearch.org) I know that I didn't find Boyd and Loyd together but these men have to be brothers. all the dates and places line up and I bet that Crease and Margaret Ellen Hyatt are sisters if I did do more digging. I do think that Crease Fry did get divorced, probably between 1918 and 1920. Her last son, Junior was born 23 Mar 1918 and on the 1920 Census and 1930 Census she states that she is divorced. The Tennessee State Library and Archives has records available for divorces for that timeframe. You just have to email or contact them. http://www.tennessee.gov/tsla/history/mailcnty.htm#Marriages If you need help finding these censuses and death certificates, let me know. Good luck! Author: thegaminboy2 Surnames: Frye,Hyatt Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/411/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hey everyone i recieved alot of helpful hints last time i asked what to look for to find my 3rd gg Mark Allen Davis' parents. So now i'm wondering what records i should look for to find the parents of my 2nd gg Floyd/Lloyd Frye/Fry? (most likely his name is Frye as his son, wife and all his children spell it this way, only on census records does it appear Fry.) He married my 3rd gg Crease Hyatt,i do not know on what date.I hired a genealogist to search for their marriage record, but she was not able to find it.The only census he appears in is the 1910 census, and on it his name is listed as Floyd Fry and his birthplace is given as Virginia. He died according to his son's wife family bible on May 10,1936 and the only reference i had to his death place was ''at the home place'',which i assumed must be Sullivan,Tennessee which is where he is last found in the 1910 census.Unfortunately they were not able to find a Death Certificate for a Floyd/Lloyd Fry/Frye in 1935,1936,or 1937 in Sullivan,Tennessee. I feel his parents are most likely a Benjamin B. Frye and Sarah Moore.I base this off of the fact there is a Floyd Fry living in their household who is listed as their son, they were married in Washington,Tennessee, and they are living in Saltville,Virginia which is not that far away from Sullivan,Tennessee. The main thing against it is that Floyd was born in 1872 vs. 1883 for my Floyd, and there might be a possibility that even though his name appears as Floyd in the 1910 census it might have been Lloyd going by what the family says. I talked to my great aunt and she said Floyd/Lloyd's son Junior's actual name was Lloyd but he went by junior,so he was named after his father.I'm wanting to potentially connect my 2nd gg to the Frye's of Saltville,VA,or find who his real parents are,so what records should i look for? The family doesn't know much at all on Floyd, and i'm wondering what happened to him after 1910 b/c he vanishes,i can not find any other census in which he appears after or before this date with 100% certainty.Crease in later census records list her status as divorced, but on her D.C. (i know not filled out ny her) but her son Presston Frye has her listed as widowed.Sorry for the very long post, but wondering what people here would look for in order to find my ancestors parents, thanks. Most likely the census taker spelled their name for them so don't think that they spelled it like that. I have done more searching for them in the 1900, NY State 1905 census, and the 1910 census with my "magic" searching methods but no luck. If you have their children's birth certificates, it might list the address of the parents on there. I am not familar enough with NY birth certificates to know if they have address of the parents on them but if they do, you can search by address on the census. If they do post them and hopefully we can find them that way. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
