It could be, although unlikely, that Elijah's wife, Mary, was the sister of Calob, rather than Elijah being the brother of Calob. For example, in my in-law's family two cousins both surnamed Fuller married. If Elijah was a cousin of Mary then they would both share the same last name and Calob would be the brother of Mary and the brother-in-law of Elijah. It could also be that someone got the relationship between Elijah and Calob wrong. I tried finding information on the names you listed and was unable to turn up anything. Perhaps a more experienced researcher will find something for you. Sandra Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Very helpful. When you say wildcard, what does that mean? I will definitely try the first 3 or 4 letters trick, never thought of that. I have yet to find any obits for Jonas or Isabel. The family didn't have a lot of money so not sure if that would make a difference. I will keep looking though. That NY passenger list is the first I have seen perhaps a brother. I know my ggrandfather had a sister come over as well but she ended up going back and the suspicion is that she might not have made it through the Russian purge. Remember that Loyd we suspect is our guy had parents who were John P and Sarah J. He was not married by 1900 because he was still living at home. Loyd sometimes lists his name as Loyd W. and I always thought "Creese" was a strange name. Their first child was born abt 1905 so I figured they must have gotten married between 1900 and 1905 in Sullivan Co. Here is a marriage certificate from Sullivan County FHL 1928836 Item 2, Salt Lake City. Notice the name Sarah J Frye (Loyds mom) and the name Loncrecia Hyatt aka Creese? His destination was Brooklyn. http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=7488&iid=NYT715_315-0141&fn=Jonos&ln=Terbstis&st=r&ssrc=&pid=4002998493 In searching the arrival records for this ship (30 Dec. 1902), there are several Jonases but the Jonas above seems to match with line 25, indexed as "Jonos Terbstis" with nationality Russian but to me, looks like Jonas Teibatis. Passenger list shows he is from Wilna, Lithuania. His destination is a brother, "Kasis Teibeis" in Brooklyn. http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=7488&iid=NYT715_315-0141&fn=Jonos&ln=Terbstis&st=r&ssrc=&pid=4002998493 Try wildcards in Ancestry, or enter just the first 3 or 4 letters of the first and last names (KAZ, KOZ, KAUS, etc.)and you can pull up additional possibilities. I would guess that she was divorced around the birth of her last child abt 1918 add another year onto that for conception purpostes and then 1920 when she is divorced. So basically between 1917 and 1920 look for a divorce record. Those can be extremely informative, I have only ordered two in my research but every time they answer what happened to the individuals involved. Check with the TN State Library and Archives. They have these records. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
