All born in New York. Could this be them? This John is listed as being born about 1908, so his dates match up. Maybe the Bernard J is Bernard Joseph?? Morrison and Julia Kramer (Unsure of the spelling of Kramer). Here is what I know: He had two siblings and he is believed to be the oldest of the three children. He had a brother named Joseph and a sister whose name is unknown, but is believed to start with the letter 'S'. It is believed that he grew up in the Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell's_Kitchen,_Manhattan ) On August 3rd, 1942 when he signed up for the Army, he lived in Queens County, NY. He had 1 year of college and his civil occupation was listed as 'Semiskilled occupations in fabrication of metal products, n.e.c.' He was discharged from the Army December 19th, 1942 after being at Cp (Camp?) Pickett, VA. Sometime between 1942 and 1950, he married Catherine Griffiths and had four children (One deceased) He died December 20th 1968. As you can see, I have no information from before his entry into the Armed Forces, perhaps you fine people may have more luck than I? My Grandfather passed away yesterday. When I went to visit him on Friday the topic of my search (which I was doing for him) came up. I am the type that believes that our relatives can reach us from the other side . . . I have had dreams with messages from people that passed away that were SO REAL. Anyway, my Grandpa knew that and I told him that once he was with his parents and grandparents in heaven, he would know the answers to the questions I was searching for. I said to him when you figure it out, send me a little message with a clue . . . sort of a "hey, look here" type thing. He smiled and said if I can I will. I have had SEVERAL people looking and looking for anything for months, and now the day after he dies there is something that looks like it COULD be a connection. Something I did not post in any of the information online (since it was VERY random) was that we did find a piece of paper inside the old family bible with the name Mary Ann Hagerty on it . . . nothing to say WHO Mary was, how she was connected the the family . . . just Mary Ann Hagerty and one other name. I always kind of thought it could be a sister, but if the info below is the people I am looking for then Mary would be my 3 times Great Grandmother. I am going to have to do some research on this Hagerty family to figure out if they are for sure related. THANK YOU! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have been using Ancestry, FamilySearch and FindAGrave My Great Great Grandfather is Edward Henry Hagerty born 9 May 1867 Detroit, Michigan died 7 April 1947 St. Paul, Minnesota Earliest record I have found of Edward is his marriage to his wife, Bridget. Here is a link to that information https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FDDK-63N They were married 1 May 1894 I have found census reports for him for the following years . . . 1895 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MQ64-8M8 (this one actually shows Bridget's family also) 1900 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M93F-JM4 1905 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/SP3B-4WT 1910 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M2PC-LQ9 1920 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MW19-GXJ 1930 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X381-168 1940 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KSL3-HPF I have not been able to find a 1880 or 1870 census for Edward. In all of the census reports Edward lists his place of birth as Michigan, and his parent's place of birth as Ireland. I have his death certificate, and it lists he father's name as James and that James was born in Canada. His mother's name is listed as unknown, and her place of birth as Ireland. I have not been able to locate ANY other documentation about Edward's parents. I cannot find ANYTHING on Edward before 1895, to show more information about his parents or if he had siblings. I contacted the State of Michigan trying to find a birth certificate for him, but they could not locate one. Someone told me that the state of Michigan just started to keep birth records in 1867, which was the year he was born, so that could be why there was not one on file. Plus, I am sure he would have been a home birth and not a hospital birth. Edward and his wife Bridget had 3 sons Edward Henry Hagerty Jr John Thomas Hagerty (My Great Grandfather) James Dennis Hagerty Thanks, Shawn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If not, I see from the birth certificate of his son, Richard, that Henry Sander was a tailor. In the Manhattan City directories: 1889; Sander Henry, tailor, h. 94 First av, 1890; Sander Henry, tailor, h. 42 Av D 1891; Sander, H'y, tailor, h. 42 Av D. Henry Sander the tailor is not listed after that, there IS a "Sander Mary, wid. of H'y" in the directories at various addresses starting in 1892. In the NY City death index there is: Heinrich Sander, 48 y, died Oct 9 1890, cert # 35316, Manhattan His age of 48 years gives him a birth year of about 1842 which matches exactly with the birth year that can be calculated from his age of 39 years given on his son's 1881 birth cert. The death date of Oct 1890 may have been late enough in the year for him to be included in the 1891 city directory. It might be worth your while to send for that death certificate.
