He shows up in the 1860 and 1880 Census in KY... Having married Sarah Brown Branson in 1851. Shows him born in 1816 NC, but can't find any reference to him before... I've searched everything and find Daniel Fowlers all over the place, but none to connect him to his past. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I need help with finding a John William West, Born in 1828. Records say conflicting things. Some records say he was born in Gouldsboro, Maine. Others say he was born in the West Indies and others say Wisconsin. In the 1880 Census it states John William West and both parents were born in the West Indies. On 28 Nov 1857 John William West married Prudence "Dency" Tenney,in Columbia, Maine, USA. Thats where my the trail ends for me. I can't not find John William West's parents or any records from the West Indies or where exactly in the West Indies they are from. Any help would be appreciated. In 1864 there is a marriage registration in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada of Joseph Telley (parents John and Ann Telley of Leicestershire) and Louisa Beaird (parents William and Mary Beaird). His birth date is listed as 1831. From that date onward I can track him. It is before this that is my problem. The "story" that I heard is that his name was supposedly ? Selby and that he came over on a ship called The Great Eastern. He said he deserted from the military and nothing else was ever told because if he had been found he would have been shot. No diaries, uniforms, or papers were ever found and it was a hush-hush secret. He changed (?) his name to John Thompson for whatever reason. He and Louisa had 5 children. My ggrandfather was one of those. His children were named George, Mary, Albert, William Wellington, and Ann which are all very good "English" names. If he stowed away on the Great Eastern or was one of the troops on board we d! o not know. For all we know the name of the ship was changed in his stories as well but I do know that he appears in 1864. It is a very long shot in the dark to post this but if I don't take the shot I may never find out either. Barb Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Missing ancestors are common too, and become more so the further back you go. You might want to post what you already know; where you found him last, when and where the last know child of his was born. You mention a marriage registration, place, date, to whom? Are there parents listed on it? If you post specific info and the sources you are using to search, this helps others assess where you might look next. As to the children's names, this is an avenue that we (most of the family) are fully aware of and have resolved, unfortunately it doesn't take us anywhere with the search in tracing Jean Guillaume Hodeige's path from England back to Belgium. However, when I first came across this avenue of discrepancy you have found, like you I was very curious but the answer became very obvious once we knew about Amelia's other relationships. Suffice it to say, apart from the twins girls: Jean & Yvonne, the other children that followed were not sired by Hodeige, even though their surnames are registered as such and these children were given & had their 3rd Christian names registered as the biological father's surname: Smith. Hence: Barbara, Pamela, Smith - Hodeige & Edward, Peter, Smith - Hodeige. I've been some 21 years unravelling this side of the family's 'hidden' history, which I didn't find out until I was 42 years of age and some members of the 'family' are still not even aware of these discrepancies. As Sir Walter Scott wrote:"What a tangled web we weave when at first we practice to deceive" and as Sir Winston Churchill said:"It's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma" Anyhow, I would like to thank you again for replying to my request and if you can think of a way to break through the England to Belgium brick wall, I'd be most grateful. Kind regards, Tony Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you haven't been swamped by requests for help already, I would love some. My great grandmother was Florence Evelyn Saggers born around 1880 in London. I only know that she lists her father's name as Frederick Arthur Saggers on her first marriage certificate and Frederick Wallace on her second marriage certificate. She married John Clamp in 1897 in Hemsworth and married a second time in 1919 in Stroud to William Frederick Samuel Eddels. Florence was an actress and used the stage name Daisy Neville and she also listed her fathers profession as actor, but I haven't been able to find him. I'm hoping for any help locating Florence's parents so that I can find a birth record for her and find out her mothers maiden name. I only have a membership with ancestry.uk and I live in Canada so any additional research from someone with more resources would be really helpful. Let me know if you're ! interested as I've hit my own brick wall. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am researching my gr-gr-grandfather, Bolin (Bolen) Greenberry Baugh, who was born in Kentucky according to his marriage application, filed in Owen County, IN when he wed Jenny (Jinny, Jennie) Edwards 14 Jan. 1844. They continued to live in Owen County, IN for about 30 more years where the 1870 census listed him as Greenberry Baugh. At some point in the 1870s, they moved to Iowa where the 1880 census in Warren County, IA listed him as B.G. Baugh. He died 22 Sept. 1881 in Indianola, Warren Co, IA at age of 59 yrs, 10 mo, which would put his birthdate as 1821, but 1880 census says 1824. I hope to find his actual birthplace (perhaps Pulaski County, KY where I have checked out dozens of Baugh families with no success?) and the names of his parents and siblings. I appreciate any help in obtaining information. Terri Malinowski

The Father of Gary Jackson was the one nobody could figure out. If it is this Lyles Jackson then that is great news. Gary Jackson and Bessie Ramsey are my grandfather's grandparents. My grandfather is still alive and he does not remember much about the first Gary Jackson but the second one is his uncle and he lived until 1993. However, he was unable to shed any light on the missing puzzle piece before his death. I really appreciate this and I can't wait to tell my grandfather that there may be some answers very soon. -Jay Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
