    1. [BRICK-WALLS] Stuck in Weakly County Tennessee
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: ElizabethSpragg1954 Surnames: Summers, Price, Stunston, McCLean Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/159/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am searching for the Summers family that appears in Weakley Co Tennessee (dist 1) between 1825 and 1840. They would be: Richard Summers, Letty Summers Price, Burnetta Summers Stunston, Sally Summers Stunston, Priscilla Summers, James Brice Summers, Franklin Summers. I do not know how these people are related to each other as I can't find them....They were in the middle of the McClain-Stunston-Price Murder story and I can track them from tennessee into Illinois...I can't find them back past Weakley. They could have come from Graves CO, KY or been in the Mayfield Tenn area...I just am lost as to how to find them. I have no birth date/location to ask the county clerks for a search and would appreciate any suggestions as to the next step...Thanks for being so patient with this long story. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/158.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: They didn't disappear after 1930. You have to get more creative as the 1930 census is the last one published until 2012 when we'll see the 1940. The records (below, all from Ancestry.com databases) are for the family you're researching, correct? The records differ in birth places you note in your post. >Betty was born abt 1884 in Russia and Frank was born abt 1881 in Michigan<. These records have Betty b, NY and Frank b. Indiana. Betty was the mother of 4 children, 3 by her 1st marriage and 1 by her 2nd marriage. You didn't mention the daughter, Isabelle (b 1920) of Frank and Betty (who were most likely married in 1918, I would venture in Flint). Frank's mother, Isabelle, died in 1934 in Flint. All these details of others helps find info on the principles. Isabelle (the daughter) is your direct ancestor, correct? I would guess she had the closest connection with her parents, being the only female daughter of Betty, the only child of Frank and the youngest. Where was she living in 1950? You may not have access to the records, but you did say you searched city directories. These are from Ancestry.com databases. Polk's Flint (Genesee County, Mich.) City Directory Frank C (Betty S) PIERCE 1939, 1941, "clk (indicating he is a clerk) h213 Page (home address is 213 Page St, Flint) 1942 Frank was the head stockman for Kresge's, same addr. 1945 he was the elevator man @ Kresge's. 1946, same address and position @ Kresge's. 1947 same postion @ Kresge's, new address: 413 11th Ave. 1949, Frank is listed alone, same address as 1947. My guess would be that Betty passed away in Flint btw 1947-49. There is a death record listing for a Betty S Pierce, d 21 Nov 1950. http://www.co.genesee.mi.us/vitalrec/SimpleQuery.asp. The 1950 Directory stops @ the letter J. My guess would be that Frank passed in Flint after 1950, considering his age and the passing of wife there, but I would also be looking where the daughter, Isabelle (Pierce) Hinds was between 1950-60. I would venture there would be obits for both of these individuals. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mifgs/cemindex/cemindex.html. I would also get one for the mother, Isabelle Pierce. There's a link to the obit request application in the page. You have enough info to make a search possible. You can request death certs: http://www.co.genesee.mi.us/clerk/genealogy.htm. Betty was born abt 1884 in Russia and Frank was born abt 1881 in Michigan. I have them in the 1930 census records in Genesee County, Mi, but they disappear after that. I have looked through all of Michigan's state sites, the SSDI, Immigration Records, LDS site, etc and still cannot find them. Betty's maiden name was Hecker and she was previously married to Max Greenglick and they lived in N.J. He died very early in life and she moved, with the three children, to Michigan. I cannot get any more specific as I don't know any more. If you have any questions, please ask or see my tree. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/157.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: It helps if you post dates (approx birth years) of the individuals you're searching for. What sources are you using to research? You can find US census and other selected databases by the state, on familysearch.org, in the pilot program. This is a free site. If you know where they were in Michigan in 1930, you might want to share that detail. If you know the county in Michigan, posting on the locality board is preferable than than posting on the brick wall board. A brick wall is when you've exhausted all research possibilities. In order for others to understand your brick wall, you need to post everything you know in minute detail and where you've already searched. Rebecca/Betty S. (Hecker, Greenglick) Pierce and Frank C. Pierce. They are recorded as being in Michigan in the 1930 census, but they fall off the map after that. Rebecca married Max Greenglick in N.J. and had three children. After Max died, she moved to Michigan sometime between 1910 and 1920. She also remarried to Frank in that same time frame. He also said she was a distant cousin..not sure if it was a "Given" or "Givens", as there were many typos in records back then. I also was not able to find her death certificate from my paid online service. Kinda too far to Philly to get the actual record unless I send for it. Any thoughts outside of paying or going there? 2. SUE SCHROEDER
    3. Hello Cousins, I am still trying to find information on my great, great, great grandmother Sarah C. FISHER. I even hired Ancestor Seekers for a pretty penny and they weren't able to find anything on her. This is what I have: According to censuses --- she was born around 1822 and one census states she was born in Cayuga County, NY. She married David S. MOREHOUSE in June of 1841 in Gorham, Ontario County, NY. Sarah shows up on the 1875 Naples, Ontario County, NY, census, but not in 1880. David married Mary Slayton in 1877, so I'm assuming Sarah died between 1875 and 1877. I would very much like her birth and death dates and places and then who her parents were. If anyone out there knows anything about my Sarah and would be willing to share, I'd love to hear from you. TIA. Sue Schroeder Los Lunas, NM

The 1870 shows a William Stephens, age 22, and Eliza Stephens, age 18, in Beat 3 in Mobile Co., AL. The census was taken in July and there is a notation that they married in Feb of that year. That Eliza seems to be the only white Eliza of the probable age, although there is no way to know for sure. It's possible this is your couple, with your William Robert being born after the census. FamilySearch Record Search lists an Eliza Hodge m. William Stevens on 29 July 1872 in Chambers, AL. Dates don't entirely match but cannot definitively be ruled out, either.
