The only thing I can find is this marriage record: JOHNSON, M H STACY, LUCY E 1882-11-14 G / 1439 LIVINGSTON and 1880 census says he is a laborer and he was born in Wisconsin in 1853 but his son's death record and a marriage certificate say he was born in NY. I am trying to figure that out- it seems different records are kept in different areas. I am also looking up when his father, John Pfeifle died. He was still alive in 1930, so working on that as well. He is proving to be very tough to track down!!!!! I also thought maybe to look more into his inmate record- they did keep logs on who visited etc which may shed some light if his family knew he was in there, etc. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Your best bet is to bite the bullet and order a copy of the marriage certificate or her death certificate. The marriage cert. is more likely to be accurate, as Margaret/Maggie gave the information about her parents herself. Her death cert. will have been filled out by someone else, who may or may not have known that information. Good luck. Check online to see which court handles that, and what you need to do to get records. They may be stored off-site, for example, or perhaps you need to request them several days in advance. I'm not sure whether a probate file is required to be retained, or for how long. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Also, thanks for the link- I did find that site, and found her death certificate previously.. I assumed it was her but parts of it where hard to make out.. that is a good site!! That is a good thought- Maybe I could check more into his siblings- I know he had 2 brothers I believe- I will have to check and post their names on here... Can't remember them offhand.. I was also thinking probate records as well- wasn't sure how much I could find online in regards to probate records and estates etc, but that it something worth checking into. I may have to go to the actual county court location? I also found an Arthur Pfeifle in SD area- I do not think that is him as the birth dates do not match up at all and all the family he lives with on census records I have seen are not ones that are in relation to us. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your input and different ideas of where to check!! This has been making me crazy.... :) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This is my Grandmother's Father.. ( My Great Grandfather) Arthur Charles Pfeifle Born March 25th 1883 Wayne County, Detroit MI His father is: John Pfeifle Born about 1854 Michigan His Mother is: Lena(Lempke) Pfeifle Born December 1860 Michigan- Died possibly in 1920 He Married Eloise G Heyer(b Dec 1883)on August 2nd 1906. They had Ruth Alice Pfeifle(b Dec 1907), William Pfeifle(b Nov 1911), and John Arthur Pfeifle(Born 1913 range). Arthur Charles Pfeifle is listed on the 1910 census as living with Eloise, and their child Ruth is there. On his war draft registration card, 1917(approx) he is listed as being an inmate in the Detroit House of Corrections, and upon further search of these records at the Detroit Public Library(Burton Hist Collection) he had a warrant out for forgery, was arrested (11-24-17) with a 6 month min sentence, and was noted to be discharged on May 9th 1919- and then I have no longer been able to locate him on any census, death, military, etc records after this point. Arthur's wife and kids were found to be living with his parents on the 1920 census but no record of Arthur. Family stories from my Grandmother and Father are basically that he left and never came back. My Grandmother did not remember him much at all-only that he came and watched her play outside at school, the other kids became scared, then he left. I have attached wedding picture of them, other assumed family members are in background. Any help or input would be appreciated! Not sure if this is your Frank C. Pierce though. My Frank Pierce is the son of James L. Pierce and Nancy Eugenia (Sears or Sehrs) Pierce. Now, story has it that James and Nancy were heading out West via wagon train when they got as far as Michigan and James died. Because it was taboo for single women to travel alone during that time, Nancy married a man by the name of Perris Bassett and came back with him to IL when the wagon train headed North again. Nancy did reside in Michigan for a time when she was around 10 yrs. old. Not sure if this is your family too, but feel free to take a look at my McGee family tree on ancestry.com and see what you think.
