She was born aprox 1837 in Pancras. I can find a female Edwards born in 1837 in Pancras but it does not give a first name why I do not know. I got her maiden name from her sons birth certificate in 1861 his name was John Henry Cumby born 1861.She was either maried to or living with an William adolphus Cumby but I cannot find any marriage records either. The first info I have apart from the sons birth certificate is when she appears on the 1861 census as Matilda C Cumby LIVING WITH HER HUSBAND AND THREE CHILDREN I have all her info after that but nothing befor the birth of her son which is annoying as I cannot go back any further . Any info would be much appreciated on what I could do next or if anyone out there is researching the Cumby family tree they might know . I have a list of those I believe are Lonzie's siblings and I've been looking in to what information I can find on them. I have at least determined that there are 2 different John Gambills showing up in other family trees and now know that the one born in Lawrence Co. is not the one I'm looking for. Suppose to speak with an aunt I haven't talked to since I was 11 tomorrow to see if she knows anything or might have an ideas as to where John would have been buried. I'm almost certain should would at least remember other family members talking about Lonzie and his siblings since he would have been her great grandfather. Hopefully she might even remember talk of John as well if I'm lucky. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: sandraf93 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/178.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Have you tried tracking all of the Gambill families in Morgan KY? This can show relationships between the families. First names tend to repeat in families. Just looking at the 1870-1900 censuses, there sames to be quite a correspondence between the childrens' names of John Gambrell and those later heads of household later named Gambill. I think that you are on the right track with John. The marriages listed for members of the Gambill family on Morgan KY GenWeb do seem to suggest that John Gambrell and John Gambill are the same person. The sons of John were witnesses to each other's marriages. Have you tried researching Alonzo's (possible siblings)? You may find more on one of them and find his parents that way. Is there a death certificate or death register entry Alonzo's death? Have you tried locating Alonzo's marriage certificate? You can also try to obtain those of his siblings. I may be telling you stuff you already know, if so sorry. Those are all the things I would try. Sandra Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: lmc41472 Surnames: Gambill, Gambrell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/178/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm attempting to verify who my great-great-great grandfather was but I'm just not having any luck finding anything I can use. My great grandfather is Hatfield Gambill who is the son of Lonzie (possibly Alonzo) Gambill and Victoria (possibly Victory) Cantrell of Morgan Co., Kentucky. I can verify this information through family and various census records. I can't seem to find anything verifiable on who Lonzie's parents were however. I've found several pieces of information online but all the information seems to contradict itself or I found countless other people researching the same line that are having the exact trouble I am. It's rumored that Lonzie's father was a man named John Gambrell but there seems to be more than one so tracking down the right one has become difficult. As far as his mother, I'm not really sure. One source I found said her name was Charlotte but I've found both Salyer and Risner listed as her maiden name as well. I've also been told that John moved to Morgan Co and was not born there. If anyone could provide some help or at least some guidance here I would greatly appreciate it. I attempted to do this once before about 5 years ago and hit a brick wall in the same place but I'd like to get passed that so I can track my family further back. 1. [BRICK-WALLS] Need Some Advice and Guidance on Sources
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: MartheLawton Surnames: Oliver Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/177/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, I am stuck and have been for quite awhile and am hoping that some of the more experienced researchers might have some advice for me. I have been looking for the name of my grandfather's mother. His father was married twice after his mother, and I have been able to locate the marriage records for those two women, but simply don't know where to look for the name of my ggrandmother. My grandfather, Thomas was born in 1888 in Arkansas'to William F. Oliver and unknown mother. He had a sister, Nola born 1887 in Arkansas. The 1890 Federal census may have helped me, but I cannot find any substitutes that would help me in either Arkansas or OK Indian Territory. I have located my ggrandfathers subsequent marriage records in Choctaw Nation IT in 1895, and then to his last wife in 1908 in Haskell County. The 1910 census tells me that William was born in May 1857, but I do not trust that 100% because of conflicting information given on censuses through the years. I know my grandfather Thomas was born in Boonville, Logan County Arkansas through his Draft record. But I don't know how to find any records that would identify his mother. To my knowledge he was not a veteran of WWI although he registered for that Draft and he died in 1938, so of course no SS Death record. Alternatively, his father William also was not a veteran of a war, so compiled military records won't serve me here. I am thinking that since Thomas was born in Logan County, that that his parents might have married in that County or adjoining one. I did find a marriage index with an entry for a WF Oliver marriage to AE Taylor 10 Sep 1885 in Scott County Ar, which is adjacent to Logan County. I do plan to pursue this lead. But other than that, I am out of ideas of how to identify my grgrandmother. Does anyone have any ideas on other resources that might help me find out her name? My thinking is that whatever happened, death, or divorce or abandonment, etc. happened in Ar! kansas before William moved to IT. Although it's possible that she disappeared after they moved to IT. In the 1900 census, William is listed with the second wife along with my grandfather Thomas and grandaunt Nola in Choctaw Nation IT. So what happened to Thomas mother? Did she die in Arkansas? Or OK Indian Territory? I simply don't know where to look now. Thanks in advance for any pointers! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/174.1.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I think you might have a challenge on your hands to find the church records records. The Catholic Chruch doens't make this easy. I checked the LDS library card catalog for resources they have filmed for Pima County, Arizona. I'm not seeing anything for Church records, but there may be some others that can help you, ie Land records. I googled for the Archdiocese that includes churches on Pima County. The site states they don't offer genealogical research. It appears the Diocese of Tuscon (part of the Archdiocese of Phoenix) doesn't either, however I would contact the Archivist there and ask if they can give you hand in localizing which church was in existence in 1895 in the area your ancestors were from in Pima County. In this case, follow Conception's family, chances are they were married in the location she was living in. You have a good lead with the location in the 1900 census and can narrow the marriage time frame by the birth date of Antoine in 1897. He appears to be the first born child, therefore I would guestimate the were married in 1896-97. Getting all the bap records for all the children might have other clues to more Noriega (either parents or siblings) that you can connect to Jesus. More info on his family will help with tracing his family in Mexico. It's a challenge, but I think a doable one. Good luck!
