    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/181.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I see, the pics you mention in your post are attached to your tree. When you post, include all the info you already know, where you've searched, records you found. You can post a link to your tree, but people who can help prefer you post the information in your message. Have you attempted to find the marriage record for Frank Aaron and Cuma Lively? Their first child appears to have been born about 1908. Therefore you should search 1906-1909 for the marriage record. This record will most likely have the names of her parents. The first area to look for this record is Lincoln County, Oklahoma, where they were residing in 1910. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: shawneeshawnshawn Surnames: Lively, Aaron Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/181/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am trying to find out about who Cuma Mae Aaron (married name) her name was Cuma Mae Lively before she married Francis "Frank" Marion Aaron. She is my great-grandmother. I posted pics given to be by my mother, passed down by my grandmother. She was my grandfather's mother and died in Oklahoma when he was 3 years old. I am trying to find out who her mother and father were, and siblings in the photograph I posted of her at 18 years old posing with her family. I think I found a census record that might be accurate and have connected it on my family tree, but really I am not positive that is accurate. She was born in Arkansas and died in Okalahoma of Pellegra (a vitamin deficiency) at the age of 34. I have attached a pic of her tomb stone. She was buried with Doctor Winstin Aaron an Nancy Tenensee Aaron. They were her spouse's (my grandfather's parents). I am desperate to find out who her siblings and parents were and so on up the tree. If anyone can help, I would gre! atly appreciate it. Author: dklart Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/180.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Recent history is a more difficult search. Do you have a copy of Eleanor Markwitz's death certificate? Chances are an obit was in a Brooklyn (Kings) weekly newspaper. Having the address of where she was last living in Brooklyn helps to sort out which paper to look in. Her last address should be on her death certificate. Also, contacting the funeral home (another thing you can find on the death cert) is another source for an obit. Finding the 2nd marriage without a more narrow time frame is going to difficult. Also, this is fairly recent history, so unless you're directly connected, you may have a difficult time obtaining the record. This might be accomplished by searching the Brooklyn City Directories (phone books). If you're in the greater NYC area, the libraries have these. You might also want to check the area's religious institutions the family was associated with, again this is something you may find a clue to on the death certificate. The library has microfilm copies of most of the newspapers back to 1911 (the paper only began publication in 1910)with the exception of some that were lost in a fire. They also have various other resources they said they could give me access to. Author: chatterchit Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/177.4.1.4.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: You would have to get specific names and dates first -- that would eliminate 95% of them, I would guess, due to wrong birth date range, wrong death date range, and gender. You could try: published cemetery indexes, local historical or genealogical societies, local libraries, volunteers (such as those at FindaGrave.com) and finally the cemeteries themselves. The cemeteries should have SOME records -- especially who bought the plot and when. If a William Oliver did, that gives you a great potential lead. The cemeteries also might have biographical info AND even tombstones could have "Wife of William" etc. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Yes, there are lots of Olivers in Arkansas. And I think there is a very good chance that Thomas and Nola's mother may be buried there, unless there was a divorce or she abandoned them. The trouble I am having is how could I possibly connect any of those cemetery Olivers to Thomas? Any ideas? Would military records be a possibility for him? Probate records/will could indicate siblings or other relatives. Also, it sounds as if you are concentrating on online records and other people's trees -- if so, then you should expand your research to reliable primary and secondary records. Author: MartheLawton Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.researchresources.brick-20-walls/177.4.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Yes, I have been trying to concentrate on Nola as a source of indirect information that will lead me to their mother. The problem is that she was married at least 3 times. I have documented children by 2 husbands. Traced 2 children from her first marriage to Tarrant Texas. Have their death certificates but only information listed is their mother's name (Nola Oliver) and in fact unknown is listed where she was born (which I know is Arkansas). I have been informed on the Logan County board that there are no birth records for Logan County in that time frame. If there were, they are destroyed, lost, etc. I have sent away for a death certificate for a Thomas "J" Oliver died in Seminole in 1887, which is geographically a possibility. I have a death date of 1888, but who knows? The main problem is the initial "J". My Thomas' middle name was Issac, so I have no idea why the tombstone would be "J" but stranger things have happened. So for $15, I guess I can see who this Thomas is. I have not been able to find obituaries for Thomas, Nola or William. Nola was married so many times, it is difficult. Last marriage I have for her was Leroy W. Winters in 1930 in OK per census. I have no idea if she remarried after that. The other problem I have with Nola is that she lied about her birthdate on the censuses. With every husband, she got younger. Probably because she was marrying younger men. By 1930, she has her birthdate as 1894! Six years YOUNGER than her younger brother, Thomas! Marriage names for Nola are 1) Ryles -children Lillie, Issac, Addie, 2) Hackworth -child Leona 3) Winters -no children that I can find yet. Have death certs for Lillie and Issac, can't find Addie. Have not been able to find court or land records. These were poor people. I mean POOR. They were transient and they rented or boarded according to the censuses. I am a frequent visitor to the Family History Library in my city and much of my information have come from film I have ordered through them. I have Thomas'marriage certificate and license to my grandmother Ollie. 25, Dec 1911 in Poteau, OK. I have an inquiry at the Le Flore County board about where the information Thomas and Ollie had to provide for the marriage license might be. I have no idea if the application was kept once the license was issued. My thought is that the maiden name of Thomas mother may be in that information that was provided for the license. Does anyone know if this type of information would be kept once the license was issued? Thank you for the website to search for Logan County books. With a quick search, I can see there are quite a number of books listed. I am going to see if there might be something in there that might help. Thank you so much for your suggestions! If you think of any others, I am open! I have been stuck here for so long! And it is possible that Thomas and Nola forgot their own mother's name since it appears she disappeared when they were quite young. If that is the case, I have no idea how I will ever be able to trace that side. Thank you again! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
