Records are based on location, so no one can give you GOOD advice/information without a location. When you say you are "looking" for Robert Robinson what do you mean? You would probably get better results if you chose a specific piece of information that can be researched -- like "When/where did Robert Robinson die?" That way, you could form a plan -- with others' help/advice. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Found this: Hartford Courant Feb 2, 1912; page 6 Mrs. Annie McCarthy, wife of the late James Henson, died early last evening at her home, No. 2 Howard street, of pnuemonia. She leaves four children, Wesley Henson, James Henson, Robert Henson and George Henson, and a sister, Miss Mary McCarthy. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the undertaking rooms of J. J. & F. Ahern, No. 194 Pearl street, with high mass at St. Michael's Church at 9 o'clock. The burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery. Also found the obits of her husband and sons James and Robert. If you haven't seen them already I can transcribe those for you as well. By the way, it looks like Wesley had become a Hartford policeman, and that he was living in Niantic as of 1973, many small items in the paper about him. Your Alonzo is the half brother to my Morton. Alonzo and Morton Gamble/Gambill father is John Gambill born 1839. Alonzo's mother is supposively Charlotte Risner. Here is the Brick wall that I am facing now! I knew that John (1839) father was Henry, but yesterday I got a shock of my life when I found this info. John Moxley alias Gambill & Charlotte RisnerPosted by: mark blevins (ID *****9753)Date: November 22, 2007 at 11:30:18 of 490 John Moxley was the son of Henry Moxley of(1840 Ashe Co. census) Ashe Co. NC. John was born in Ashe co. 1839 his sister Louisa born 1835. Between 1840 and 1842 Henry Moxley moved his family to Kentucky(1850 Lawrance Co. Ky Census) where his daughter Abi was born 1842, Henderson "Henry" 1845 and Elizabeth 1848-49. Henry's first wife died sometime after Henry jr. was born an remarrying Phebie Collier in Lawrance Co. Ky 1848. Then between 1850 and 1856 ( this can be determined with the Death record of daughter Susanna 1856 Morgan co. Ky) Henry Moxley moved his family to Morgan co. Ky. (1860 census) where we find John Moxley & Charlotte Risner m: 1860 Morgan co.. On Sept. 1 1862 John Moxley enlisted in West Liberty 5th Ky. co. C C.S.A. under the alias John Gambrill. Later Sept. 18 1862 his younger brother Henry also enlisted in West Liberty 5th Ky co.C C.S.A. under the alias Henry Gambrill. Both brother's deserted the 23 Oct. 1862 in West Liberty Ky. After deserting the Confederacy John (moved his family or was in hidding undetermined) to Louisa, Lawrance co. Ky where John Moxley still using the alias Gambell/Gambrell enlisted 24 Nov. 1863 in Louisa, Ky with the Union 45th co.K mustered out 14 Feb. 1865 Cattletsburg Ky. With the death of (or other) Henry Moxley Sr. c:1865 and two Land Deed records for wife Phebie Moxley 1865 one for 250 acres other for 80 acres Morgan co. Ky. John Moxley now going by John Gambrell moves back to Morgan co. (probably to help step mother Phebie and half siblings). John Moxley alias Gambill and family can be found living close by his step mother Phebie and (half sister's Lucinda ,Chatherina,Nancy, and Ann who are listed in the 1870 census as Gambrell) now living with or married to Isaac Gillam (1870 census Paint, Morgan co. Ky). John Moxley alias Gambill Death Record age 86 (which means he would have been born in 1839) father listed as Henry Gambill ( who is actually Henry Moxley Sr. of Ashe co. North Carolina). Mark Blevins Now I am still in shock because I just cant believe that someone would just change their name like that! But I thought that I would let you know so that you didnt make the mistake that I did and attached the wrong Parent to Alonzo. I have Alonzo married to Victoria Sarah Cantrell. I also this morning found a marriage record for Charlotte Risner in Morgan County, KY. Maxey, John Charlotte Risner March 1860 Morgan County Marriages By Surname 1823-1950 If you would like to contact me you can reach me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to share what I have on this confusing mess! LOL Have a great day! Sincerely Ann Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
