    1. Descendants of SAMUEL BREWSTER and TABITHA BALDWIN
    2. In response to Bruce Woodworth's posting of 12-FEB-1999, I am wondering what evidence has been unearthed that JOHN PIERCE BREWSTER is a son of SAMUEL and TABITHA BALDWIN? Information follows about the known children of SAMUEL and TABITHA. If JOHN P. BREWSTER is their son, why was he not mentioned in his father's Will? Note that SAMUEL and TABITHA's son, SAMUEL, was living in Nova Scotia at the time of SAMUEL's death. If SAMUEL made note of one son who was living in Canada, why is JOHN P., who was also in Canada, not mentioned? From the birth dates of his children, it is evident that he was still living at the time of SAMUEL's death which occurred before 24 June 1776. Also note that "The Brewster Genealogy" does not show JOHN P. as their son. Thanks for any additional information that will confirm JOHN PIERCE BREWSTER's ancestry. Terry and Anne Borden Harding, starting from the Family Worksheets of Mrs. Kathryn Greeley of Winnetka IL, 1985, page 65: "195 SAMUEL BREWSTER, d. Lebanon bef. 24 June 1776. He m. (1) Lebanon 30 Nov. 1726 TABITHA BALDWIN, b. Norwich CT 2 April 1699, dau. of John and Experience (Abell) Baldwin. He m. (2) Lebanon CT 12 May 1760 EXPERIENCE ROOT, by whom no issue. Samuel Brewster's will, dated Lebanon CT 28 March 1775, proved 24 June 1776, named wife Experience, son Samuel; daughters Mary, Ruth, Mehitable and Ann Welton; and grandson Samuel III son of Samuel now "living at Nova Scotia." He devised all of his real property to his grandson, Samuel, who was living with him. However, the distribution of his estate by the court shows that son Samuel returned from Nova Scotia and was granted the double share of real property and the daughters were granted single shares and the grandson was omitted entirely from the distribution of the real estate, receiving nothing. Daughter Mary died a single woman. The division of her estate 1798 was made to her sister, Mehitable Brewster, with the real estate given to the children of Samuel 'born in lawful wedlock', and to the children of Daniel Welton of Watertown."
